After moving from New Hampshire to Clermont County, Ohio after 1812 with his parents and siblings, Edmund inherited seventy-seven acres of land east of Milford, Ohio near Sugar Camp Run when his father died in 1818. The following year Edmund wed Hannah Collins daughter of Jacob Collins of Harrison County, West Virginia. Edmund was listed with his wife and no children on the 1820 census in Miami Township, Clermont Co. Ohio. By 1830 he had sold his land and was living in Salem Twp., Warren Co. OH near his in-laws. Some time at or after the 1831 birth of his son Jacob, Hannah died. By the 1840 census Edmund had established himself in Wayne Twp., Clermont Co. OH and remained on that farm until his death in 1863. On the 1840 census he had a new wife, Nancy Randolph, two daughters who must have died young or were not his daughters, and a son under 10 who was nine year-old Jacob. Daughter Mary Jane had just married Absalom Little at age 14 or 15. Jacob and Mary Jane are the only children mentioned in his will. Mary Jane and her husband were to get the forty-six acre farm provided that they pay Jacob $500. On the same day that he wrote his will, he sold to his grandson Monterville Little 4 acres of the fifty acre tract that he owned.
