McKinney notes:
From July 1996 visit to Bellefonte Court House and Library

• Isaac McKinney, Centre Co. PA school population assessor 1811
• Samuel McKinney single freeman 1829 taxed 40 cents
• Samuel McKinney, Walker Twp. 1813; War of 1812 in Captain George Record’s company of volunteers from Centre Co. May 5 to Nov 8 1813
• Isaac McKinney died Sept 11, 1849 age 83 [born 1766]
• Col. Henry Petrikin died Nov 9, 1849; first white child born in Bellefonte 1798; signed Sarah Clark document for guardianship 1831 (daughter of James Clark & Elizabeth McKinney)
• From the History of Venango County, Pennsylvania vol. II p. 624: “[Samuel] McKinney was born in Chester county, Pa., in 1786. When the War of 1812 broke out he was living in Centre county and volunteered, participating in Perry’s victory on Lake Erie. He was voted a silver medal by the state legislature for conspicuous gallantry on that occasion. In 1832 he removed to Venango county, and died in 1871 at the age of eighty-five years.” This was under Cranberry Twp. near Salem City. [born: 1786]
• From the History of Venango County, Pennsylvania vol. II p. 1140: Samuel McKinney son of Samuel, Rev. War vet from Ulster in northern Ireland of pure Scottish blood, Presbyterian; raised large family. Samuel [Jr.] married May 23, 1816 Rachel McKinney of Sunbury, Pa.; had 12 children to wit:
       Rebecca
       John of Nebraska
       Isaac
Margaret m. Joseph Chambers of Rockland Twp, Venango Co. Pa.
Mary J. m. Dr. Edwin Oppelt of Indiana [Pa.]
       Louisa m. Benjamin McGee
       Macada
       Samuel H.
       Charles B. of Bradford
       Alvina
Imelda m. Andrew Gales of Emlenton
       Henry
Samuel’s wife Rachel is possibly a daughter of Isaac McKinney of Sunbury.
Church History & Records First Presbyterian Church Bellefonte, Pennsylvania page 197:
James Clark admitted to membership August 20, 1808
• James Clark married Betsey McKinney 27 May 1813 Rev Linn, Presbyterian Church, Bellefonte, Centre County PA. Both from Nittany Valley
Other Thoughts
• William and Isaac McKinney could be younger brothers of the Revolutionary War veteran Samuel McKinney Sr. and thus uncles of Samuel Jr.
• Samuel may have married his first cousin Rachel, daughter of Isaac.
• The Samuel McKinney noted as single freeman in 1829 was not Samuel son of Samuel but possibly a cousin. Samuel Jr. married in 1816
• Elizabeth McKinney Clark is the sister of Samuel Jr. and daughter of Samuel McKinney Sr.
• John McKinney 16-26 on 1810 census is probably Samuel Jr.’s & Elizabeth’s brother.

MCKINNEY Scenario 1800-1810 Walker Twp., Centre Co. PA Census

1800 William McKinney 26-45 2 sons under 10, 1 daughter under 10 Wife 26-45
1800 Isaac McKinney 26-45 3 sons under 10, 2 women 26-45, 1 slave

1810 Samuel McKinney 16-26 (24), male 16-26, female 16-26, female over 45 (widowed mom?) girl 16-26 (could be Elizabeth “Betsey” McKinney) [married in 1813]
Mom over 45 (widow of Samuel Sr.? mother of Samuel, Elizabeth, John, et.al.?)

Elizabeth could have been 8 in 1800, 18 in 1810, 21 in 1813 marriage, 28 in 1820, 34 at death in
1826. No living children between 1820 and her death in 1826. Miscarriages? Infant deaths?
Died in childbirth?

I have no proof of Elizabeth's parentage, but the above ideas are probably correct.
