Page 15: "Schmidt-Kuhn: April 26th, in John Kuhn's house, Philip Schmidt to Eva Kuhn; witnesses the bride's parents and several others." Marriage record.
On page 117 of the Goshenhoppen Registers: "Schmitt, Philip, the father by his two marriages, of a large number of children, all living; died yesterday [July 17], after having been fortified in due season with all the sacraments of holy Roman Church; buried July 18, 1775 in the chapel graveyard."
Philip may have had two brothers also buried at St.
Paul's Chapel cemetery [now sacred Heart Church in Bally, Washington Twp.,
Berks Co. PA.] On the same page 117 in the Registers they are described
as "Schmidt, Frederick, an old widower, in Allentown,
died February 8, after a short illness; buried February 10, [1777] in the
graveyard." and "Schmidt, Anthony, an old
man, died February 14, 1777; buried February 16, in the graveyard, while
I was away." Anthony's second wife, Catherine, the former
widow of Caspar Meyer, died the previous year.
