Chief, Finance Division "The only reference for the middle initial [B] of James Baker married to Nancy 31 with children: George, Resin, and Sallie in the 1880 census for Black Creek Township, Shelby County, Missouri. Enumerated 12 Jun 1880 by H. B. Dines. Enumeration District 64. Page No. 19 C. Stamped page No. 459. Lines 32-36. Dwelling 186, Family 188. I went back and reviewed the census and the initial is clearly a "B." [In my family the tradition is that my great grandfather had a cousin James Reason Baker born almost the same date and died almost the same date as my great grandfather James Robert Baker. Other descendants from other branches of the family have his middle initial as R. It is for this reason that I have given him the middle name of Reason.] In the 1870 census James is shown living next to his parents, Resin [sic] and Dorinda. He is married to Nancy 21 years of age, born about 1849. They are living in Honnewell, Jackson Township, Shelby County, Missouri. No children, as yet." ref: James R. Baker
