There were seven children born to John D. and Charlotte Hawk Baker.  The other children were: Edward I. Baker (1868-1913,) Richard M. Baker (1872-1914,) and Ida Bell Baker Bassett (1881-1918.)  In addition, Charlotte had a son by her first marriage, George Edmond Newell (1862-after 1 April 1930.)

Charlotte Hawk Newell Baker (1842-1916) was the granddaughter of Coshocton County pioneers, Jane Elson and Richard Fowler.  Her parents were Christina Fowler (1820-1915) and William Hawk (about 1815-1843.)  John D. Baker (1846-1917) was the son of Abednego and Rachel Baker Baker and great-grandson of Esaias Baker, another pioneer settler of Coshocton County.
