1758-1759 Vestrymen, Church Wardens, and Freeholders of Prince George's Parish, Frederick County. To Gov. Horatio SHARPE and the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly.

Petition for an act to divide the parish "by a line Drawn from the lower falls of Potomack, to Will'm Richardsons Bridge that Crosses Potuxant River by said Richardsons Dweling Plantation or at any other place your Hon'rs may think more convenient."

To wife Ann,  plantation where I live.

To dau. Elizabeth and hrs. slaves.

To sons: Richard, Ralph, John and Jeremiah, and dau. Elizabeth, lands below Monacasie Divided; 3,000 A. to be divided equally, 150 A. lying at. the lower end of the Resurvey On Valentine's Garden, so as to include the houses wherein Lawrence Owen formerly kept tavern.

Dwelling plantation, after decease of wife, shall descend to son Jeremiah, and the equal share of lands to be laid off for him, and the 150 A. above-referred to, I give to Captain William Williams and hrs.

Appoint Col. Samuel Beall and Capt. Wm. Dent.

 

 

In 1764 Edward Owen Junior patented the 25-acre tract Elizabeth in what is now Montgomery County.  In 1770 the tract Liberty, containing 21 acres, was patented to Edward Owen.  (Patents BC&GS #27, f. 329; BC&GS#41, f. 41)

 

 

ON 4 November 1769 Edward Owen Junior executed a deed, which stated that Edward Owen "being legally possessed of part of Resurvey on Friends Advice," was conveying 200 acres of the tract to Lawrence Owen, for 100 pounds.  Ruth Owen, wife of Edward Owen Junior relinquished her doer rights in the land.  (FC Deeds M, f. 615

Frederick County land book dated 10 Mar. 1779 conveys land called "Owens Resurvey", containing 138 acres to Robert Owen, son of John, and witnessed by George Cullom.

The Subscriber having removed to that large and commodious Stone House, in Frederick Town, opposite the Tavern kept by her late Husband, Robert Owen; and has supplied her Tavern with the best Liquors, and other necessaries for the genteel accommodation of Travelers; takes this method of soliciting the encouragement of the Public in general, and of the Customers of her late Husband's Tavern in particular, under an assurance that no pains shall be wanting on her part, to render her Tavern convenient and agreeable, and to deserve a continuance of their favors.

REBECCA OWEN Having administered on the Estate of my deceased Husband, Robert Owen, I hereby request all persons who have claims against him, to bring them in properly proved that they may be settled; and to enable me to do that, I entreat all those indebted to him to make speedy payment.
