Obituary
Mrs. A. A. Baker

Hardly had we finished writing the obituary of Mr. McConnell, when the news came to us announcing the death of Mrs. A. A. Baker after a severe illness of two weeks. Mrs. Baker was the widow of Esquire Baker, 62 years of age, and the mother of nine children; six boys and three girls, namely: Deloss, Perry, James, Ezra, Joseph, Edward, Mrs. M. Funk, Mrs. J. Dratt and Miss Fayette Baker, all of which survive her and were present at the funeral, who with a large circle of friends mourn the loss of the loving mother and friend. The funeral will be held at ten o’clock at the Lutheran church, Rev. Douglas, officiating, interment at the new I.O.O.F. cemetery.

The deceased was a most exemplary Christian lady, kind, sociable and open hearted. At an early day united with the church and has kept the faith, enjoying its rich blessings all through life; cheering in affliction, consoling in sorrow, strengthening in times of temptation: the mighty staff upon which she leaned in the closing days of life, and a triumphant victory at its close. By her departure the church has lost a faithful member and the community an esteemed citizen. She will especially be missed by her children whom she fondly cherished and cared for from infancy up. May they ever cherish and remember her kind teachings, and endeavor to meet her when called upon by the pale horse and its ride to their final home.
