SPECIAL NOTE:
For dial-up Internet connections – you should click-right on the links below, and then select “Save Target as…” This will allow you to select a place to download the PDF file. The files may take from 15 to 25 minutes to download for the larger files. Once you save the file you can open it on your local computer.
For High-Speed connectors you can do the above or you can click-left on the links below then the PDF file will open in a new window. You can then save the file on your local computer by clicking on the disk icon or the “File” menu and select “Save as”
If you see a small “X” icon in a new window – the program has started to open up the document, which takes time on a dial-up connection. You can wait for it or close the window and try click-right to simply download the file.

Adobe Readers offers some distinct advantages for locating information within the text. You can use the search function to quickly find names, places or other text. The instructions below are for the latest versions of Adobe Reader – 8.0 or higher.
- How to use the Bookmarks and Pages tab of Adobe Reader. Clicking on the tab will bring up the applicable navigation window so you can quickly jump to a subject title or listing.
- To find words within the document press the Control Key plus the Shift Key and hold them down while you press the “F” key. (Ctrl+Shift+F). This will bring up the Search pane on the right side of the window.
Tip: When searching for a name – always type the last name then a space followed by the first name Do not use commas! Almost all names are listed in the order last name (space) first name. You can also review the Name index document to see if a name is listed and what pages it may located.
- After you enter your text, make sure the selection to search is “In the current PDF document”
- Now enter your name and if a match is found (based on your Select options) a list will appear in the search pane. Click on an entry to be taken to that location in the document.
