Joann Glenn Woods

Joann E. Wood, 78, longtime Galena, Ill., resident and formerly of Moline, Ill., passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at home. Joann was born on June 28, 1932 in Fornfelt, Mo., the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Houck) Glenn. She married Charles L. Wood, Sr. on March 24, 1951 at Rock Island. She was a 1953 graduate of UTH High School, East Moline. Joann's sweet, kind, loving and gentle personality will be missed by her many friends and relatives. Her deep faith and love for Jehovah God guided her in all that she did. She shared that deep love, faith and affection with her devoted husband, Charles, who was always at her side. Her quiet and gentle ways will always be treasured by all as we remember her with her self-sacrificing and loving spirit. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to read and was very active in the local congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are her loving husband, Charles L. Sr. with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage; their children, Karen (Robert) Livesay of Lindstrom, Minn., and Charles (Annette) Wood, Jr. of Amboy; grandchildren, Troy (Tara), Jerome (Sonya), Nathan (Kelly), and Rachel; great-grandchildren, Brittany (Chris), Paige, Isaac, Hope, Noah, Phoebe, Lydia, Micah, Logan, Elisabeth, and Robbie; also Joshua and Stella (children of Laura Livesay); sisters, Neta, Betty, Kathy; and brother, Kenneth. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Paul Livesay; and a brother, Billy. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Galena Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 11406 U.S. 20 West, in Galena. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19 at Greenwood Cemetery in Galena.
