CARRIE A. (HEDGER/PORTER) McNEELY


Carrie A. Porter was born 17 March 1880 in Omaha, Gallatin County Illinois, She is the daughter of Jemima Armstrong and Al Hedger (no certificate of marriage found). Carrie was married to Clarence McNeely in Jackson, Cape Girardeau Co., MO on 15 May 1909. We find Carrie and Clarence in the 1910 Census in Welch Twp. married but no children as yet. In 1920 they are living in Hubble Twp. Clarence is now 36 years old, Carrie is 25. There are two children now - Adam is 6 years old and Eva is 1 1/2 years. Carrie died 13 Dec 1927 in Cape Girardeau County MO.

Some records indicate that Carrie and Clarence had several children. We are researching for Henry, Larnia, Leonard, Lorna and Lester. So far we have only found 2 - Adam and Eva on the 1920 census.

Obituary of Eva

Eva Marie Reece Abner, 87, of Ellettsville died Friday, May 13, 2005, at her home. She was born April 4, 1918, at Randles, Mo., daughter of Clarence and Carrie Armstrong McNeely. She and Glenard Reece were married Aug. 8, 1936, at Jackson. He died July, 10, 1985. She and Ed Abner were married in 1989. He died in 1993. Abner worked in Cape Girardeau public schools and at Tipton Laundry. She was a United Pentecostal Church member.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Donna Teague of Ellettsville, Ind.; five stepdaughters, Mary Keiney of Pevely, Mo., Faye Pheils of St. Louis, Wanette Daniels of Oran, Mo., Janet Mims of Michigan, Judy Barchett of Benton Harbor, Mich.; three stepsons, the Rev. Jimmie Abner of Ironton, Mo., Eddie Abner of California, DeWayne Abner of Oran; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Teague officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
