Since I didn't grow up close to my Armstrong roots I don't have a lot of pictures of the family. So I'll post what I can find here. If you have some family shots near and dear to your heart, and would like to share them, past or present, just hit the "email" link below and send them to me.

Marie Armstrong was the oldest of Grandpa Lloyd Armstrong and his 2nd wife Leona Marcus Armstrong. Myrtle Marie was her full name, but she always went by Marie. She was born 15 November 1922. Aaron Gillis and Marie were married 29 September 1937 in Cape Girardeau, MO. After being married 13 years without having childen they adopted two boys, Jerry and Jimmy.

Jerry Gillis was born August 28, 1950. He and his wife Henrietta are the parents of two children, Kym and Gregory. This photo taken in 1984 shows Gregory 2 1/2 months old and Kym is 8 years old.

Jimmy Gillis was born 29 June 1952. He and his wife Linda are the parents of two daughters, Christy and Shanna Gilles. This photo of the family was taken in October 1989. Jerry's very sudden and untimely death occured 21 August 1994.

Marcella Armstrong, the second child of Lloyd and Leona (Marcus) Armstrong was actually named Della Marcella I've been told. She is known to all as "Marcy". Marcella married Gilbert Daniels 2 October 1943 in Cape Girardeau. They became the parents of two children - Mary Jane and Ronald. This picture has a date on it of November 1989. Gilbert died just a short time later in February 1990 and several years after his death, she married the 2nd time to James Strop.

Janie married Walter Legrand and this picture features them all together. Walter is now in a wheelchair, they have no children.

Ronald Daniels died very young, I don't know the details. His death occured 27 January 1970. He was only about 17 years old.

Lloyd Franklin Armstrong, better know as "Frank", is the 3rd child of Lloyd and Leona (Marcus) Armstrong. He was born 13 November 1933. He was married to Mary Robinson 19 May 1952 in Cape Girardeau. He married Wanda on 19 June 1988. Frank has four children - Sharon Diane, Janice Marie, Kim and Gary. Unfortunately we lost Gary last year (2004) to some dreadful, quick moving disease that stunned the entire family. Frank and my brother Larry born 1936 are only three years apart. They grew up as "buddies" instead of Uncle/Nephew. This photo was taken in East Moline IL when Frank was visiting at Larry's parents house.

Della May Armstrong, next in line, is the 4th child. She was born 12 March 1937. Lloyd and Leona had a thing with the name of "Della" - two daughters by the same name. Della married Clarence Myers 19 May 1951 in Hernando MS. They were underage, but determined to get married. Their marriage lasted 54 years, ending just this year when Della passed away on 21 April 2005. Della and Clarence spent many, many years out in California. This photo, taken in 1985 is after their return to Missouri. (I think).
This photo included thier children, Patty, Scott and Tina. Their oldest sons, Danny and Arthur both remained in California.
My best memory of "Aunt" Della who was only 3 years older than me, is her constant smile and energetic attitude. Her family was blessed to have had such a wife and mother.
