Heraldic symbols do not necessarily denote aristocracy or an exclusive class. The emblems were the reward of personal merit and could be secured by the lowly as well as the rich.
I personally do not know a thing about the Coat of Arms, but if someone could tell me the actual "deeds" the Dolby family did to acquire it, I would find that very worthwhile.
