MAN DROWNS AT TOMAHAWK DAM
Falls from Pier Onto Apron Striking On His Head; Body Recovered Within Two Hours From Time Of Accident.

Elzie Myers, 39, attendant at the Jersey City hydro electric plant of the Wisconsin Valley Electric Company was drowned about midnight Monday night, when he fell from a concrete pier to the spillway of one of turbines and rolled down a ten foot 45 degree incline into the Tomahawk River.

The unfortunate victim probably never regained consciousness after his fall as he had sustained a bad scalp wound on his forehead, showing that his fall was a severe one and probably would have been a very bad accident in itself. Mr. Myers, who has been on the night shift at the power plant was watching a brother-in-law fishing who was being accompanied by Mr. Myers' own daughter.

Just what could have caused him to fall will never be known. His little daughter was an eye-witness to the tragedy and the one to spread the alarm. Help was summoned from the city and it was about two hours before the body was found about 150 feet below the apron of the dam, grappling hooks bringing the body to the surface.

A coroners jury was impanelled to hear the evidence in the case before Judge Bell on Wednesday morning and after due investigation by the District Attorney, they returned a verdict of "death by accidental drowning".
