Veda Jesse Dolby, the oldest daughter, and first child, of Harry Hubert & Mary Elizabeth (Clinton) Dolby, was born on the 11th of January 1887 in PA. She died on the 16th of February 1925 in Glenwood, Allegheny County PA.

Veda was married to Alvin Emery Greaves sometime around 1905. Alvin was born 14 February 1885 and died 11 October 1953 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co PA. Both Veda and Alvin are buried in the Union Dale Cemetery.

Alvin is listed as a Messenger Boy for the Railroad in 1900. They were living at 104 Renova St.,Glenwood, PA at the time of Veda's death in 1925. Veda was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress, working for the Kaufman Department Store in Pittsburgh. Daughter Martha Virginia (mother of Bev) was also an excellent seamstress. Daughter LaRue taught her sister Alice Mae (who was blind) how to sew and embroider. Alice Mae also made quilts. Alice attended the Pittsburg School for the Deaf and met her husband there. After she left the school, her future husband to be, Martin Eber, went to DuBois to find her. Alice was always happy and upbeat, in spite of all her hardships in life. Lois Jean, who was born at the time of her mothers death, was adopted by Thelma and William Malunney. She grew up in Hazelwood PA but was always in touch with her family.
