William Orlando Dolby was born 25 April 1840 in Lancaster Co PA, the Third child and Second Son of Isaac and Caroline Mary (Martin) Dolby Jr. William was the grandson of Isaac & Dorothea (Dietz) Dolby Sr.

William was in the Union Army during the War of the Rebellion from June 1863 when he enlisted until 3 March 1864. From what I can gather from his Pensions Papers (you can see these on the Dolby Military Page) he might have been discharged early due to an injury.

His first wife was Susanna Shelly whom he married 1 April 1866 in Huntington Co IN. Their children were Mary Elizabeth 1867, Sarah Francis Dolby 16 March 1870, Martha C Dolby 1872 and Lewis H Dolby 16 March 1874. Susanna died 20 August 1878.

On the 16th of March 1880 in Wells County IN, William married Rebecca Sills. They were married by John Southwood and made their home in the house shown above located in Wells Co IN. Rebecca and William were the parents of 4 children - Charles W 29 October 1880, Elmer Isaac 4 July 1883, Leroy Otto 25 March 1886 and James C 9 November 1887.

William Orlando died 26 December 1901 and is buried in Monument Cemetery. Rebecca died 7 January 1922.
