Kittrells Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Don and Shirley (Montgomery) Kittrell recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Both are 1953 graduates of Cabool High School. They were married June 5, 1954 at First Assembly of God Church in Cabool.
They spent June 5, 2004 at Lucaya Beach Resort, Grand Bahama Island, with dinner at the Port Lucayan restaurant.
A family celebration with children and grandchildren was held August 7, 2004 at Biggies Restaurant in St. Louis. Attending were Richard and Kimberly (Kittrell) Mueller of Kansas City and their daughter, Stephanie, 12, a student at St. James Catholic School, Liberty, Kenneth and Kimberly Kittrell of St. Louis and children, Kyle Martin, 12, a student at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, and Kara Ann, 21, an engineer specialist with the U. S. Army National Guard, who just returned from a year in Iraq; and Jack and Laura Kittrell of St. Louis and children Christopher Manion, 19, a student at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Alexander Montgomery, 8, a student at Timothy Lutheran School, and Isaac James, 20 months.
Members of the Kittrells' 1954 wedding party included maid of honor Johnnie (Crawford) Riggs of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and best man, Bulas Sponsler of Cabool. Both are deceased.
Bridemaids were Betty (Montgomery) Throckmorton of Ft. Washington, Maryland, and Wanda (Kittrell) Mason of St. Peters.
Groomsmen were Winifred Ellis of Mtn. Grove and Bill Mason of Thayer, both now deceased.
Candlelighters were Alberta (Preston) McGowan and the late Nadine (Whetstine) Hyde, both of Mtn. Grove.
Barbara (Hutcheson) Searle of Houston, Texas, was pianist at the wedding and Alta (Unger) Tanis of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada, was the Vocalist.
Shirley was escorted down the aisle by her uncle, Cletus Ward, who is now retired and living in Liberty with his wife of 64 years, Alice.
Shirley's mother, Cleo Montgomery, a resident of Cabool for 46 years, now lives in Strafford. Shirley's father passed away in 1947.
Don's parents, the late Kenneth and Lillian Kittrell of Thayer, were former residents of Cabool where Rev. Kittrell pastored First Assembly of God Church.
