Robert Johns Hart
&
Martha Elizabeth Stanley

GOLDEN WEDDING

It was our rare good fortune, along with their children, grandchildren and a number of other favored friends to be present November 13, 1905 at the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johns Hart in their charming home.

When the guests arrived, this devoted couple who had lovingly shared all the pleasures, trials and hardships which of necessity are the portion of everyone, stood together as the marriage ceremony as to be again performed, while Rev. Stuart Nelson offered a touching prayer for their future welfare and prosperity.

Dinner was then announced and such a feast as had been prepared. The tables were bountifully supplied with all the delicacies heart could wish by these kind hearted Harts, to which full justice was done.

As was meed on such occassions, many nice presents had been sent in among which we noticed a handsome gold headed cane, gold handle umbrella, gold thimble, gold broach and from four of their children gold coins of a handsome denomination, and a number of other smaller presents denoting the love and high estimation in which
our friends are held.

Mr. Hart was born in Georgia, December the 9th, 1834. Mrs. Hart (nee Martha Elizabeth Stanley) was born in Cusseta, Chambers County Alabama, August 21, 1839.

The Harts were married in Chambers County, Alabama November 13, 1855. They are the parents of eight children, three sons and five daughters, all of who are living except one daughter. They have thirty grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Four of their children with twenty seven grandchildren were with them on the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage.
