 Carla (Hankins) Tenbnarge, of Evansville, IN. called me on the 10th or 11th of December 1998 & told me that her Mother Pauline Hankins had passed away on 6 Dec 1998 & wondered if I had mailed my Christmas letter so that I could have had her obituary in the Newsletter. I had
just finished addressing them & had them ready to mail. Sorry that I didn’t know about it sooner Carla.
Pauline Hankins, of Evansville, IN
Pauline Hankins, 76 of Evansville, IN., died Sunday morning 6 Dec 1998
at her home of an apparent heart attack. She had retired in 1984 from Faultless Caster, where she worked for 35 years. She was a member of Twenty Year Club at Faultless Caster. Surviving are a daughter, Carla Tenbarge of Evansville; two step sons, Eldon and Norman, both of Evansville; three sisters, Mildred Fazekas and Mary Ann Avery, both of Lorain, Ohio, and Margaret Thomas of Rockford, Ohio; two brothers, Richard Thomas of Lorain, Ohio, and Bill Thomas of Williamston, MI.; two grandchildren, Emily and Joseph Tenbarage; seven step grandchildren;and six step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Auburn Hankins, in 1995. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, the
Rev. William Schwenk officiating, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Charles J. McNeil, of Norris City, IL
Charles J. McNeil, 79, died Saturday, January 2nd 1999 at his home. He had been ill with cancer. He retired from farming and worked for White County for seven years. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Eva L. (Bryant); threestepdaughters, Phyllis Stockton of Woodriver, Glenda Maynard of Beecher City and Karen Young of Keensburg; a granddaughter he raised, Phyllis Ann Wells of Norris City; a Stepson, Lee Frymier of Evansville; two sisters, Bessie Wells and Hazel Boyer, both of Mount Vernon, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home Norris City Chapel, with burial in Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Zora L. Dixon, of Advance, MO
Zora L. Dixon, a resident of Advance, was born on May 7, 1918, in Malden to the late Ed and Rosa Carter Perrigan and died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, at her home at the age of 80. Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress for many years. She was a member of the Advance Baptist Church. On April 29, 1936, in Dexter she was married to John A. Dixon. He
preceded her in death on Jun 11, 1964. She is survived by five sons, Jim Dixon of St. Louis, Johnie Dixon of Sikeston, Joe Dixon of Belton, Texas, Don Dixon of Sikeston and Ted Dixon of Collinsville, Ill.; two daughters, Norma Davis of Advance and Linda Webster of Belleville, IL; a twin sister, Ora Hart of Advance; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was also preceded in death by twin daughters, Thelma and Velma Dixon in infancy, and another daughter, Brenda Eakin and three brothers. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Jan 8, 1999, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan 9, 1999, in the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Kelly Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston, will officiate and burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Zora was a twin sister to Aunt Ora Hart who was married to the late

Bill Hart of Champaign, IL
Bill Hart, 67, of 2003 Clover Lane Champaign, IL, formerly of Harrisburg, died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. He was born on Feb. 17, 1932, in Harrisburg, to the late Troy and Vera (Miller) Hart. In 1950, he married the former Betty Parks. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jim Shelton of Pembroke, Ky; two sons, Bob Hart of Tampa, Fla. and John Hart of Valencia, Calif.; a grandson, Jared Shelton; a granddaughter, Paige Hart; and a sister, Janet Brown of Grenada, Miss. Mr. Hart was general manager and part owner of Harts’s Department Store in Harrisburg and later sold real estate in the Champaign area. He was also an avid piano player. He was an Army Veteran. Mr. Hart was a member of Harrisburg First Baptist Church. Graveside services for Mr. Hart were held at 11: a.m. Friday, March 19, at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. The Rev. Mike Davis officiated. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Harrisburg First Baptist
Church. There was no visitation at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.

Rev. S. E. Williams, of Enfield, IL
Funeral services for the Rev. S. E. Williams, 80, of Enfield were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at the Stewart Street Baptist Church in Carmi, the Rev. Don Houdasheldt and the Rev. Jack Cummingham officiating. Brenda Harris played the piano, and Debbie Harris played the organ. Casketbearers were Kent Anderson, Don Burke, Bill Hampton, Randy Nave, Gary T. Nichols and Lance Sloan. Honorary casketbearers were Jared and Justin Williams. The Campbell Funeral Home of Norris City was in charge of Arrangements. The Rev. Mr. Williams died at 5:17 a. m. Monday, March 15 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marion. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Stewart Street Baptist Church in Carmi. He was born Oct. 3, 1918 in Raliegh, the son of Richard and Renda Mae (Catlin) Williams. He married Patsy Ann Downen on April 24, 1952, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Beverly Miller of Norris City and Barbara Looman of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Gene Williams of Norris City; five sisters, Mayme Harvey and Letha Porter, both of Norris City, AlinePoshard of Vienna, Fletta Guffey of Altamont and Opal Portyer of Fayetteville,N. C.; three brothers, Wilburn and Richard Williams, both of New Haven and Robert Williams of Norris City; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Williams; two sisters, Bernice Hale and Dorothy Williams; and one brother, Everett “Trigg” Williams.
(S. E.’s mother was Renda Mae (Catlin) Williams who was a step-sister
to our Grand Ma Hannah Iona (Melton) Hart.)
Richard G. “Dick” Grampp
Richard Gotlieb Grampp was born Oct 13, 1918 in Parma, Missouri the fourth son of Gotlieb and Stella Belle (Skelton) Grampp and died April 18, 1999 at the Fairview Hospital, Fairview, Oklahoma. Dick worked at a CCC Camp in Missouri. He and Ina Mae Wells were married October 29, 1939 in Durant. He worked constructing the Denison Dam at Lake Texoma. Dick served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII and then attended Southeastern College in Durant. He worked for Warren Petroleum at Madill and was field Construction Foreman for Mesa at the Ringwood Plant for 36 years before he retired in 1987. Dick was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, active in Centennial celebrations, Major County Historical Society, a six gallon blood doner
and was the World Book representative for many years. He was an active member of the Fairview Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Ina of the home; two sons, Larry Grampp and wife Catherine of Arvada, Colorado and Rickey Grampp and wife Karen of
Stillwater, Oklahoma; one brother, Ed Grampp of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Virginia Heath of Fayetteville, Arkansas; four grandchildren; three
step-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, oldest son, Richard Gary, two brothers and four sisters. Services was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 1999, Church of Christ, Fairview, Oklahoma. Burial was held at the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Oklalhoma.
Dick was the uncle of our cousins Christine (Hart) Mansfield, Marie(Hart)

Logan Roark Jr., 73, Of Pana, IL
Logan Roark, Jr., 73, of 701 S. Locust St., Pana, died at 1:40 a.m.,
today,
Monday, Apr. 26, 1999 in his home.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Apr. 29 in McCracken
Funeral
Home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery with military rites by Pana
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.,

Apr. 28.
Mr. Roark was born Feb 11, 1926 in Campbell, MO., the son of Logan
and Edith (Catlin) Roark. He married Charlotte J. Cameron on Aug 14,
1955 in Norris City, Ill. He is a former school psychiatrist for
Midstate
Special Education, Taylorville which covred 23 school districts. He
retired
in 1989. He had also been a teacher and counselor in Southern Illinois
in
the Belleville and Cahokia areas. He moved to Pana in 1969 from the
Belleville area. A graduate of Norris City High School, he received his
bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in guidance from
Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He received his degree in
psychology after taking courses from several universities. Mr. Roark
was
a U. S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II.
Surviving are his wife; daughter, Judith Kay Gallagher and husband Jim
of Smyrna, Ga.; son Michael J. Roark and wife Vicki of Woodstock, Ga.;
and six grandchildren, Michelle Renee Roark; James Logan, Joshua
Andrew, Jacob Daniel, Jennifer Elizabeth and Johnathan Michael
Gallagher,
A brother, Billie Jean Roark, preceded him in death.

Johnny Lee Marrs, Norman Oklahoma
Johnny Lee Marrs, 49, of Norman, died Thursday, Jun 9, 1999, in
Norman, Oklahoma.
Johnny was born November 30, 1949 to Robert W. and Bonnie B.
(Faulkner) Marrs in Steele, Missouri. He graduated from Atwood High
School in Atwood, Tennessee and then attended at Tennessee Vo-Tech.
Johnny was a Sergeant in the US Army and served in Vietnnam. In 1979,
Johnny and Tammy Bowden were untied in marriage in Dresden,
Tennessee. They moved to Norman in 1982 from McKenzie, Tennessee.
Johnny attended the Moore-Norman Vo- Tech and was employed by
Tinker Air Force Base as a machinist. He was member of the Praise
Cathedral Church in Purcell, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bonnie Marrs; (2)
sisters, Geraldine and Jewel and (1) brother, James Marrs. Survivors
include wife, Tammy of the home; (one) son, Johnny Lee Marrs, Jr., of
Evansville, Indiana; (1) step-son, Michael Allen York of Hobart,
Indiana; (1)
daughter, Leesa Diane Marrs of the home; (2) sisters, Alberta Moyers and
husband, Jay of Tucson, Arizona, and Betty Rickmon and husband, Jessie
of Las Vegas, Nevada; (4) brothers, Bob Mars and wife, Grace of
Momance, Illinois; L. G. Marrs and wife, Marie of Lenden, Tennessee;
Bill
Marrs and wife Toni of Chicago, Illinois; and Gary Marrs and wife, Diane
of
Parish, Alabama.
Funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, June 11, 1999,
Havenbrook Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Williams, Officiating.
Interment was at 2: p.m., Sunday, June 13, 199, Henry Cemetery, Henry,
Tennessee.

Roy Gene Clifford, New Haven, IL
Roy Gene Clifford, New, Haven, IL died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999 at
Welborn Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was a retired factory worker.
He was born Oct 30, 1934, the son of Howard and Dorothy (Melton)
Clifford.
He is survived by his companion, Marie Ward of New Haven; four
daughters, Mary Ann Ianniello of Orlando, FL., Patty Merritt of
Clearmont,
Fl., Barbara Henson of Crossville and Janie Abell of Ridgway; four
daughters of Ms. Ward, Connie Campbell, Sherry Moss, Corwin Ward and
Angie Anderson; two brothers, Howard Clifford Jr. of Brookport and
Ernest
Clifford of Eddyville, Ky.; four sisters, Lillie Bridgeman of Carmi,
Ruth Leek
of Eldorado, Mary Lou Gibbons of Galatia and Faye Gasaway of Suwanee,
GA.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Doug Clifford; a
sister
Thelma; and a brother, Elmer Clifford.
Visitation was Saturday, Aug 7 at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in New
Haven, IL The body was cremated.

Iva Jean Hart, Advance, MO
Iva Jean Hart, a resident of Advance, was born on Jan. 19, 1936, in
Missouri to the late Fritz and Inez Weaver Lape, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 63.
Mrs. Hart was a child care provider and a member of the Assembly of God Church of Advance.
Her survivors include one son, Ricky Gregg of Advance; three daughters, Diane (Gregg) Durham of Jackson, MO, Tammie (Hart) Goodson of Ozark, MO, Tina (Hart) Ramsey of Bell City, MO; one brother, Hughie Lape of Bell City, MO; one sister Peggy Moore of Dexter, MO; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. tonight, Oct 6, 1999, at Morgan
Funeral Home in Advance.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11: a.m. Thursday, Oct 7, 1999,
in the Advance Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Brad Moore will officiate
and burial will follow in the Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
Jasper , TexasOn Dec 12, 1998, our 2nd cousin Jan Self of Texas called me & wanted
to know if I had finished my Christmas Letter for 1998, as she had two
new grandchildren & her brother Jim Wilkinson in OREGON. had two new
grandchildren born in 1998. I had just finished the Christmas letter &
was ready to mail them that day, but promised her that they would be

Dandelions Blooming the 15th Dec 1998
Received a Christmas letter from Bob & Garnet Phipps of Brownsville, Illinois just before Christmas & they stated that the Dandelions were in
full bloom in their yard the 15th of December. I didn’t see any Dandelions here, but Mom had some petunias in bloom in her yard. Then just before
Christmas the 12 degree weather took care of them.
Happy 50th Anniversary
Bob and Garnet Phipps, Brownsville, (White Co), IL celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 18, 1999. They were married at Buena Memorial Presbyterian Church in Chicago. Congraulations to Bob & Garnet.

Jamie Marie McClintick graduated from Winter Park High school in May
1999. When I found out that Jamie graduated this year, I also found out
that her brother Shane graduated in 1998 & that I had missed that one.

Janet Faye Self graduated as Valeditorican from the Angelina College
Vocational Nursing School in Jasper, Texas, 24 July 1999. Janet is

Joseph “Andrew” Burns Graduates from Haileyville, Oklahoma JR HI
Joseph “Andrew” Burns is the 14 year old son of Jason and Sharon
(Hart) Burns & brother of Jamie Burns of Ti Vally, OK, & the grandson of
Jim Burns & Pat Hulsey of Ti Valley & the late James Vick & Norma (Beck)
Hart, and the great-grandson of Anna (Bruce) (Hart) Mann of Dexter, MO.
Andrew has attended Haileyville schools for 9 years.
Andrew’s activities include being a starter this year for Junior High
football, basketball and baseball teams, he is President of the Junior
High FBLA, Vice-President of the TSA, member of FCA, Gifted and
Talented, a member of the Junior High Academic Team and taking
advanced math.
He has received a congressional degree in TSA. As a seventh grader,
he received medals for the highest grade in geography, science,
keyboarding, health and tied for highest grade in math. In 7th grade he
also took the Act test as a part of the Gifted and Talented porogram.
This
year he was also Student of the Month.
He is an active member of the Ti Valley Baptist Church.
22nd Annual Hart Family Reunion
On Sunday, June 20, the descendants of late Martin A. Hart and Hannah
I. (Melton) Hart held our 22nd annual Hart reunion at the American Legion Building in Dexter.
Ruth (Hart) Jennings master of ceremonies, welcomed everyone to the reunion & gave the Treasurers report. Then she told a humorous story
about her husband Jack & her cousin M. A. when they went to see the Pope earlier this year in St. Louis. The blessing was given by M. A. Hart & we all enjoyed the good
homestyle cooking.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent by visiting & taking pictures, looking at some of the history & old pictures of our ancestors. Afterwhich a fun Auction was held & the proceeds will help with the futurereunions. Dick Hart of Essex was the Auctioneer.

M. A. & Eloise Hart & Alan Hart all of Dexter.
Three of our relatives have passed away since last years reunion &
they are Charlie McNeil, Norris City, IL, S. E. Williams, Enfield, IL & Logan
Roark, Pana, IL. All three have attended our reunion several times in
past years & they will be sorely missed by all of us. The oldest family member present was Anna (Bruce) (Hart) Mann of
Dexter, who was 90 on Oct 20, 1998. The youngest family member was
Colleen Maddox, who was 2 years old of Bell City, MO. The couple that
traveled the longest distance was Uncle Ezra & Aunt Geneva (Hankins)
Hart of Yuma, AZ. The couple married the least length of time was Dick
& Sharon Hart of Essex, MO. Colleen Maddox of Bell City, MO had the
longest hair. Mitchell Hart had the largest foot, (Size 13) of Cape
Girardeau, MO.
Next years reunion will be held on June 18th, 2000 at the American
Legion Building in Dexter.

Received a letter from John W. Tanner who lives in Flora, IL in March telling me that his son Paul A. entered a Trappist Monestary in Dubuque, IA the day after Thanks- giving 1998 & that was his last day in the outside world. That his daughter Lynn Stonecipher & her family has moved back to Salem, IL from Springfield, MO Lynn is a V. P. with the Unithed Methodist Childrens Home in Mt. Vernon, IL. Johns son Chris lives in Salem, IL already, so he will have two children living close to him. John is the grandson of Dr. Adiel Eric Hart who practiced medicine in Parma, MO during part of WW I..

Crash claims life of Dexter woman.
MOREHOUSE, MO - A one car crash early this morning claimed the life of one Dexter woman and seriously injured another. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Sarah Reynolds, 19, of Dexter was killed in the crash that occured on Highway 60 a half-mile west of Morehouse. Seriously hurt was Teea McIntyre, 19, also of Dexter. She was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, the patrol said. Kimberly McCord, 18, of Dexter was driving the 1992 Pontiac westbound on Highway 60 when she lost control, ran off the left side of the road and struck, a concrete culvert, the patrol said. McCord was taken by ambluance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Teea was in the St. Francis Medical Center for 46 days & the first five days she was in a coma with head, pelvic, hip & right side paralysis.. She has been in physical therapy to this day & she has made miraculous progress, but has a way to go. The other two girls that were with Teea were her best friends.
Teea is the daughter of Alma & Alan Hart & our Granddaughter. We call her our miracle girl.
DID YOU KNOW ???
In the late summer or early fall of 1918 when Grandpa & Grandma Hart were making plans to move their family from Herald’s Prairie Township in White County, IL to Southeast Missouri that: “Uncle Velt, age 16 had an old hen & several little chickens that he was raising & Grandpa told him that he was not taking those chickens to Missouri & to sell them or trade them to someone. Uncle Velt found a neighbour that wanted them & he traded the chickens for a little Kodak Camera & on the way to Missouri he made some pictures. One being the picture of the Covered Wagon & team & Grandma setting in the Wagon with Aunt Clara standing behind her & Grandpa holding Uncle Amos, age 1 on one of the horses. Had it not been for the old hen & her little chickens that Uncle Velt was raising, we would not have the picture of the Covered Wagon today.

Samuel Jones Hart
At the end of my letter last year I wrote that I had located some decendents of Samuel Jones Hart, who was a half brother of our Great Grandpa Martin M. Hart. They are Thomas & Shirley Montgomery & they live at Murphysboro, IL. We have talked on the phone, exchanged information & Eloise & I had a real nice visit with them at their home on the 6th of Nov. & we both believe that these are the correct families. While there, we met Mrs. Whiteside a relative of Shirley, & Paul Lingle who is a descendant of Samuel Hart. I have taken both theirs & my information & put together the following about Samuel Jones Hart & his family. If you do find errors & I am sure there are some, please let me know, so that I can make the corrections.
Samuel Jones Hart, was born 25 Dec 1835 in Tennessee to Cassandra Jones & she later married John Henry Hart. probably in 1839. (It is not known who Cassandra married first?) Samuel had an younger brother Henry who was born in 1836. Both are shown on the 1850 Pope County, Illinois Federal Census & listed as Harts. (The story has been passed on to me that Cassandra was part Indian & the same story was passed on to Thomas Montgomery.) (Also the story was passed on to me that Samuel & Henry went into the Confederate Army during the Civil War & that neither returned home & was assumed that they were killed during the war.) Thomas & Shirley wrote that Samuel Hart couldn’t go to war, because of a toe was chopped off by an axe.
The Pope Co., IL Marriages, Volume #1, Page #78 shows that Samuel Hart married Miss Eliza Jane Wock/Kock 19 March 1862 in Pope Co., IL. Eliza Jane Wock/Kock was born 29 Dec 1841 in MO, to George Kock & Mary Kock. Samuel Jones Hart died 17 Jan 1901 & buried at the Zion Cem., Buncombe, Johnson Co., IL Eliza Jane Knox died 2 Mar 1917, Sparta, Randolph Co., IL. & she is buried at the Zion Cem. Samuel & Eliza Jane had the following children:

The 1865 State Census, Pope Co.,, IL, shows Samuel Hart, between the age of 30 & age 40 years old, 2 females age 10 & under, 1 female between age 20 & age 30. Samuel would have been 30 or 31 years old by this time, & Eliza Jane would have been 24 years old by this time. Samanatha would have been 2 years old & the other female under 10 could have been the one that died at 3 months?

Samuel’s, date of birth (25 Dec 1835) was received from Thomas & Shirley Montgomery. I showed that he was born Dec 1834 as that was shown on the 1900 Soundex for Elvira Twp, Johnson Co., IL.
Samantha Hart was born 5 Mar 1863 in IL, married Phillip Lingle & had Dan & he married Gladys & had no children.
Mary married Vernis Tate & had no children. Samanatha died 27 Dec 1899 Georgia (Georgiana) Hart was born 15 Mar 1866 in IL & died 9 Sep 1925, DeSoto, Jackson Co., IL. A story about Georgias’ first marriage to Will Endsley. When the children were little, Will Endsley was sitting on the porch one day, and got up to go to town...he never returned. One day years later, after Georgia was married to Sam Broadway, a bum came to the back door and asked for something to eat. Georgia took food for him to eat out to the back steps, and after he left, Georgia felt it might have been her first husband Will Endsley. Georgia had two sons by Will Endsley, but on the family group sheet there are three shown:

Georgia (Georgiana) Hart married 2nd Samuel Newton Broadway, 5 June 1895. He was born 4 Jun 1870, in TN to David Broadway and Mary (Robbs) Broadway & died 12 Feb 1944, Carbondale, IL. Georgianna & Samuel Broadway had three children:

Mendosi (Dosie) Hart was born 1879 in IL & died in 1974 & buried at the DeSoto Cem, Jackson Co., IL. She married three times: Harry Lingle, Nip Lingle & Charles Cutrel. She had five children by Nip Lingle: Henry, Roy Lee, Ross Alvert, Louie Phillip & Elmer Leo.
William I. (Freemont) Hart was born Jan 1881, White Co., IL & died 1948 & buried Buncombe Cem., Johnson Co., IL. He married Nina (Hodge) Pierce, 23 May 1903 in Jackson Co., IL & they had two children: Bill & Mae. Nina (Hodge) Pierce was born in 1879 & died in 1962.
Samuel Hart was born in Feb 1883 in IL & died 16 Aug 1909 & buried at DeSoto Cem., Jackson Co., IL.

Murriel Langford (Hart) Smith White County native
Murriel Langford Smith, 89, Maywood, IL died Oct 4, 1999 at the Baptist Retirement Home. Funeral services were held at the South Church of Mount Prospect where she was a member for over 60 years. The Rev. Jack Skiles officiated, with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights. She was born April 24, 1910 in the Brownville area, (White Co., IL), the daughter of the late Victor and Icey (Hart) Langford, & granddaughter of the late Milo J. & Lucy (Graves) Hart and grew up in and around Carmi. She married Russell Smith, and he preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Gem City Business College in Quincy. She was a homemaker and active in church as a member of the boards and committees, Sunday School teacher and volunteer. Surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth A. Langford of San Antonio, TX; Sue E. Courington of Tullahoma, TN.; Melissa M. Mercer of Hallowell, ME. & Laurel L. Nicole of Ridgeley, W. VA.; five grandchildren, Melissa Berg of Edwards Air Force Base in CA, Heather Wolf of Gilbert, AZ., Megan Mercier of Farmingdale, ME, Scott Nicol of San Antonio and Deborah Nicol of Edmonton, Alberta Canada; & three great-grandchildren, two brothers Darrel Langford of Carmi & Norman Langford of Norris City; & a sister Iris Sielaff of Des Plaines..

Mom turned 91 on 21 Oct & she is at Central Gardens & Eloise’s Mother turned 92 on 4 Aug, & she is at Dexter Nursing Home Eloise & I are still having our ups & downs, but are hanging in there. I just want to remind you all, that if you have some news or special event that you would like to share with others in our family, please let me know & I will do my best to get it in our Christmas Newsletter in December 2000.
