Several of us can remember, sixty years ago this month on December the 7th., Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese and World War II began. Then in June 1950 the North Koreans invaded South Korea & the USA became involved; then the Viet Nam War in the 1960’s and 1970’s & the USA became involved; then there was Desert Storm in 1990. Probably all of us had members of our families or was involved in these wars. As all of you know on Sept. 11th, the horrible attacks on New York City, Washington, D. C. & the Plane crash in Pennsylviania & the War on the Terrorist began. I only know of a few of our relatives that are now in the Military Service, but lets keep them and others we know in our prayer’s until this War is over.

Plane nose-dived twice over Sudan as man struggled with pilots’s

During the Christmas Holiday’s season last year, cousin Sue (Hart) Fulks’ of Tubac, AZ., daughter, Teresa & her husband Peter Zwager & 10 year old twins Elizabeth & Twain of Nairobi, Kenya came home (Tubac, AZ) for a visit. Sue’s sister Christine Mansfield, had told me that they were coming to Sue’s for the visit & would be returning to Nairobi shortly after Christmas. Then on the morning of Sunday December 31, 2000 I saw the TV News where a jumbo jet had nose-dived twice over Sudan on Friday. One of the passengers had got in the cockpit & wrestled with the crew, causing the plane to nose-dive twice. It ran through my mind, “wonder if Sue’s daughter & her family could have been on that jumbo-jet”? Later that day cousin Christine & I were talking & sure enough she had talked to cousin Sue & Teresa & her family was on that jumbo-jet. The crew and passengers helped subdue & bound the man. Peter also got in on the struggle & it is my understanding that he is a man of small stature. Teresa & her family were seated just a few feet from the cockpit & saw everything that happened. Teresa said it was really frightening for a while & the 10 year old twins turned pale while witnessing the incident. Sue, we are so thankful & glad that everyone of your family was safe.

Passenger who attacked jet’s crew needed help boarding , airline says

LONDON--An airline passenger who wrestled with the crew in the cockpit of a jumbo jet had been escorted to the Kenya-bound flight at London’s Gatwick Airport after he showed signs of nervousness and confusion and had called for the police, British Airways said. The Boeing 747-400, with 398 people on board, nose-dived twice over Sudan Friday night as the passenger struggled with the crew.

The captain reportedly described the passenger as “a madman.” The crew and passengers subdued and bound him, and the aircraft landed safely at Nairobi.

Five people were reported injured.

The attacker, taken to a hospital in Nairobi for psychiatric evaluation, was identified by the hospital as Paul Kefa Mukonyi, 27 of Kenya. A psychiatrist will present the results of his examination at a new conference today, the hospital said.

Kenyan police spokesman Dola Indidis on Saturday called the attacker “a suspected mental patient” who he said “had gone berserk.”

Lillian I. Myrick was born Aug 4, 1907, Mt. Vernon, IN to the late Nathaniel Lewis, Sr. and Lena (Benner) Lewis and passed away at Dexter Memorial Hospital April 12, 2001. Mrs. Myrick had lived in Dexter since 1950. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church, Dexter, MO She married Lawrence Albie Myrick Aug 24, 1924 at Parma, MO and he preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1973 Three children was born to this union, Charles Leon Myrick, Eloise Myrick and Richard Lee Myrick. Surviving are one daughter, Eloise (Mrs. M. A. Anna (Hart) Mann was born October 21, 1908, in Essex, MO to the late James Sherman and Rachel Piota (Covalt) Bruce and died on April 18, 2001 at the Beverly Health and Rehab. Nursing Home, Dexter, MO. She was employed at the Elder Mfg.Company and Weber’s Ben Franklin Store for several years before her retirement in 1975. Mrs. Mann had lived in Dexter and Stoddard County most of her life. She was affiliated with the Second General Baptist Church of Dexter. She married Joe G. Hart on July 13, 1927 at Edwardsville, IL and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1970. Three children were born to this marriage, M. A. Hart, James Vic Hart and Donald Jerry Hart. She married Frank Mann March 5, 1976 in Dexter, MO and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1991. Surviving are two son’s and their wives M. A. and Eloise Hart of Dexter, MO and Jerry and Doris Hart of Russellville, AR; seven grandchildren, one step grandchild, ten great grandchildren, six foster great grandchildren, four step great granddaughters, three great great grandchildren, one brother Joseph R. Wilburn “BOON” Williams, 79, of New Haven died Saturday, April 14, 2001 at Deaconess Hospital Evanville, Ind. He was born Dec. 12, 1921 in Norris City, the son of Richard and Renda Mae (Catlin) Williams. He was married to Dorothy (Chapman) Williams on June 3, 1939. Mr. Williams was retired from Babcock & Wilcox in Mt. Vernon, Ind. He was a World war II Navy veteran and a member of the New Haven American Legion and Carmi VFW posts. Mr. Williams had served on the New Haven School Board, New Haven Village Board and as a New Haven Township trustee. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy of New Haven; two sons and daughter-in-law, Danny and Carolyn Williams and Jim and Rose Williams, all of Norris City; a daughter, Sondra Emerson of New Haven; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Williams Jr. and Bob Williams; and five sisters, Aline Poshard, Mayme Harvey, Fleeta Guffey, Letha Poter and Opal Porter. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cox & Son Funeral Home in New Haven, the Rev. Sonny Holtzclaw officiating. Nicholas Wayne “Nick” Pyle, 86, a former Carmi resident, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 at the Rolling Hills Healthcare Center in New Albany, Ind. He retired as a meat inspector for the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Mr. Pyle was a member of Kingdom Baptist Church near Carmi. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star in Ft. Branch, Ind. He was also a member of the Evansville, Ind. Scottish Rite. Surviving are his wife, Laura M. (Stephens) Pyle; a daughter, Sara A. Aebersold of New Albany, Ind.; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Marion of Carmi. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Market Street Chapel of the Seabrook Deickmann & Naville Funeral Home in New Albany, Ind. Darrell E. Langford, 89, of Carmi died Monday afternoon, April 16, 2001 at the White County Medical Center Skilled Care Unit. He was born Sept 27., 1911 in the Wabash Bottoms of White County, the son of Victor and Icey (Hart) Langford. He married Gladys Hargrave on April 14, 1935 in Harrisburg, and they just celebrated 66 years of marriage. He had been a manager at Ainsbrooke for 44 years. Mr. Langford was a longtime resident of Carmi and graduated from Carmi Township High School in 1928. He was an avid hunter and dog breeder, raising and selling English setters all over the world. Mr. Langford had written as series of articles of local interest for the The Times. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; one son and daughter-in-law Bill and Darlene Langford of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren, David, Donald and Douglas Langford; five great-grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Ainslie, Andrew and Zachary Langford; one brother and sister in law, Norman and Dorothy Langford of Norris City; one sister, Iris Sielaff of Des Plaines; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Murriel Smith and Doris Odegaard. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi. Ruby Hart 91, of Carmi died at 6:11 p.m Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 at White County Medical Center in Carmi. She was bor May 6, 1910 in Enfield, the daughter of Herschel Allen and Nora Mandy (Gwaltney) Newman. she married Cecil Hart on Feb 2, 1928 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1969. Mrs. Hart was a member of the Cherry Street General Baptist Church in Carmi. She was a homemaker. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Harry Barbre of Carmi; two grandchildren and their spouses, Carol and Larry Beck and Sharon and Rex Stallings, all of Carmi; three great grand-children, Kara Kessler and her husband, Curt, Jason and Shannon Stallings; one great-great-grandchild, Kelsi Keesler; three sister, Fay Garrett and Iva B. Sutton, both of Carmi, and Freda Foley of Mt. Vernon, IN; and one brother, Arnold Newman of Pekin. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Lane and Wilma Lane and two brothers, Ernest and Virgil Newman. Lynn W. ‘Curly’ Fulkerson, 69, of Carmi died Saturday, Aug 25, 2001 at his residence after an extended illness with cancer. He was born Dec. 31. 1931 in Indian Creek Town- ship, the son of Joe and Elsie (O’Neal) Fulkerson. he was married on June 5, 1950 to Anna Lou Melton, who survives. Mr. Fulkerson was retired from farming and had worked for 21 years as the animal control officer in White County. He was a Christian. Surviving are his wife, Anna Lou of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law Randy and Peggy Fulkerson of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann (Hale) and Steve Poshard of Danville; five grandchildren;, Carmen and Stephanie Poshard, and Kristen, Dustin and Darrin Fulkerson; three brothers and sister-in-law: Dayton ‘Bill’ and Verla Fulkerson of New Haven, Russell and Shirley Fulkerson of Carmi, and Leland and Laverne Fulkerson of Norris City; and two sisters, Reba Faye Aud of Norris City and Jane Rose Sneed of Carmi. Marvin Lee Kisner, 63, of Mt. Vernon died 11:05 a.m. Sept. 4, 2001, at his home. Mr. Kisner was retired from Lakeside Boat & Mothers, where he was the parts manager. He also had been a parts manager for other companies. He was the owner and operator of Kisner Photography, and also operated a gun repair business at his home and was well-known for his ability as a repairman. He was born Nov 28, 1937, in Jefferson County to Grover Cleveland and Lyndel Aline (McGehee) Kisner. He married Anita M. Main on June 19, 1957, in Mt. Vernon; she survives. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wolf Prairie Cemetery. Delbert Sinks will officiate. Those attending the services are asked to go directly to the cemetery Friday morning. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Kisner is survived by one son, Kenneth L. Kisner and wife Rebecca of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Kim L. Mr. Kisner was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1961. He was a Marine Corps veteran, having served from 1957 to 1960. He graduated from Mt. Vernon Township Highschool. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Nason Mine regulators. Mr. Kisner was preceded in death of his parents; one son, Karl L. Kisner; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Sue Kisner. Mr. Kisner was very proud of his family and enjoyed each of their accomplishments. He was a compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and son-in-law. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed the outdoors and all types of hunting, and was a good listner to all the hunting tales told by all the hunters. Emma Elizabeth Hart, 73 of Neelyville died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at her residence. Mrs. Hart was born June 17, 1928, in Neelyville, She enjoyed cooking, canning and her family. On Jan. 15, 1949, she married Homer Hart in Pocahontas, Ark. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Dewane Hart and wife, Vickey, of Success, Ark; five daughters, Brenda Warren and husband, Dennis, of Oxley, Deborah Whitt and husband, Jerry, of Neelyville, Denise Williamson and husband, Doug, of Harviell, and Barbara Toombs, Bonnie Connelly and husband, Roger, all of Williamsville; four sisters, Eva Canterbury, Mildred Richard, Faye Nelson and Pat Wright, all of Neelyville; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by one sister, Iva Crawford; three brother, Billy Perren, Jim Perren and Gallen Perren; and her parents, Aaron Perren and Mamie Fitzgerald. PUXICO,, MO., 23 Sept 2001 DENISE HART

Denise Hart of Puxico, the daughter of Peggy Boshear and the late Edgar Boshear, was born in Oceanside, CA. on April 11, 1963 and died at the Three Rivers Healthcare North Campus in Poplar Bluff on Sept. 21, 2001 at the age of 38. Mrs. Hart was a resident of Puxico but had lived on various military bases in the United States. She was an LPN for Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff and was a graduate of Oak Harbor (Wash.) High School in 1981. On Oct. 24. 1981, she was united in marriage to Brian Hart at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Wash., he survives of the home in Puxico. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Jack, Carl and Joshua Hart, all of Puxico, her mother, Peggy Boshear of Puxico; two brothers, Hank Boshear of Seattle, Wash. and Robert Paul Reed of Las Vegas, Nev. Memorial funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. in the First General Baptist Church in Puxico with Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield officiating. Ruth E. Leeke, 72, Eldorado, died at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday, Oct 24, 2001 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was born April 23, 1929 at New Haven, the daughter of the late Howard and Dorothy (Melton) Clifford, and was married Dec. 20, 1958 to George W. Leek, who survives. Mrs. Leeke was a homemaker and a member of Eldorado First Christian Church, the Bereans Sunday school class at Circle of Friends, and Eldorado VFW Post 3479 Ladies Auxiliary. Also surviving are a daughter, Georgia Ruth; a stepson, Butch Leeke, and his children, Kris, Beth and Michaela; two brothers, Howard Clifford Jr. of Brookport and Ernie Clifford of Eddyville, Ky.; three sisters, Lilly Bridgeman of Carmi, Mary Lou Gibbons of Galatia and Faye Gasaway of Swannee, Ga, grandchildren, Brian and Justan Parker; nieces and nephews. Glenn Campbell, 69, of Plummerville, AR died on Nov 13, 2001 at his home. He was born Oct 1, 1932 in Senath, MO to the late I. D. & Cora (Gordon) Campbell & married Marjorie A. Hart, Dec 14, 1952 in Gernando, MS & she preceded him in death Mar 21, 1988. He married 2nd, Billie Luetta Picklesimer May 6, 1989 who survives of the home. He farmed for several years & was the owner & operator or Campbell Grocery in Plumerville for 23 years. He was a member of the Portland Baptist Church in Plumerville Other survivors are one son Glen D. Campbell Jr. & his wife Deborah of Plummervile, AR., one daughter Sherry Ann (Campbell) & her husband Michael Eoff of Delight, AR., six grandchildren; Terri, Mandi & Dustin Campbell, Tracy, Stacy & Daniel Eoff & three great grand children. Also surviving is three brothers & two sisters, other relatives & friends. Two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral Service was held at the Missionary Baptist Church in Plummerville, AR & burial was at the Plummerville Cemetery. Jennetta Kleffer died on June 14, 2001 here in Dexter. Jennetta & her family lived northwest of Dexter & were neighbors & friends of Grandpa & Grandma Hart for over 30 years. She & her daughter Mary Lou have attended many of our Hart Family Reunions here in Dexter.

Rudy V. Taylor died on October 29, 2001 at the Dexter Hospital. Rudy was born 67 years ago & weighing in at a mere 1.25 pounds & was never able to walk, but had a mind out of this world. Kept up with all of the local news as well as the world wide news. Some of our Hart cousins attended school with Rudy at a little Country School, called Sherry in the 1940s. For the last several years, Rudy was our telephone buddy. Rudy, you will always be remembered.

Sally Jo Heird, of Antioch, Ca., her mother Virginia Dahms of Cape Girardeau, MO & her Aunt, Janet Bockting of O’Fallon, MO were here for a visit in January. Sally Jo is a descendent of John Henry Kisner & Charlotte Musgraves. John Henry Kisner married Martha Collard 2nd &then married Malinda Hart 3rd who was the daughter of Jesse J. Hart & Lucinda Frier. So that makes Sally Jo & me step cousins, how many times removed, I am not able to figure that out. Anyway, it was good that they took the time to come for a visit.

Leon Hale & his wife, from Carmi, ILcame by on the 8th of March & visited for a while. Glad to see them again. Leon’s mother was Mary Bernice Williams & his grandparents was Renda Mae Catlin & Richard Williams. .

Larry & Sandra Hart of Kelso, WA was in our area on July 15, 16 & 17 visiting relatives. Larry has a little hobby with John Deere tractor’s in case anyone is interested. Was good to see them again. Hope you all can be here for our 25th Annual Hart Reunion on June 2, 2002?

Bill & Helen (Hart) McClintick of Williamsburg, VA was here for 12 days in September visiting with her sister’s, Lucille Bennett, Vera Ross & Ruth Jennings & other relatives in the area. Bill had to have surgery on his back while he was here & is doing good. Was good to see them again.

LOCATED SOME MORE RELATIVES

“Louisa Caladonia (Donia) Hart” one of Great Grandpa Martin M. Hart’s sisters has been a puzzle to me for years. I just couldn’t locate any descendants of hers, other than her two daughters “Orilla in Wayne Co., IL in 1900 & Oliva in St. Clair Co., IL in 1910. Using the internet, I have been able to locate one great granddaughter in AR. We have corresponded & exchanged information & the following is part of what we have on Louisa. I will not attempt to list all of her descendants at this time, but if anyone is interested, just let me know & I will share what information I have.

Louisa Caladonia Hart was born 11 July 1841 in TN to John Henry & Cassandra (Jones) Hart. She married William E. Emerson, (his 2nd marriage) 20 Jun 1865 in White Co., IL. Three children: Orilla Emerson, born 9 Feb 1867, Oliva Emerson born 20 Oct 1868 & Henry M. Emerson, born 1870, all in White Co., IL. William Emerson died 21 Apr 1868 & is buried at the Kingdom Cem., White Co., IL. I haven’t found when & where Louisa died & if any- one has that information, I sure would appreciate it very much if you would share that information with me.

Louisa married 2nd James Watson, 2 Oct 1871, White Co., IL.and they had no children.

Louisa married 3rd William J. Duncan, 22 Nov 1876, White Co., IL & had one Child Evastes Duncan, born 1879 in IL. Louisa & William J. Duncan divorced in 1879. According to White Co. IL Court Records Louisa was living in Wayne Co., IL in 1883.

The oldest daughter, Orilla “Rilla” Emerson married 1st Joseph F. Holston (Holstien) 17 Jul 1884 in Wayne Co., IL No other information.

The next daughter, Oliva “Ollie” Emerson married 1st James H. Courtney, 15 Feb 1886, Saline Co., IL & they had two children: Benjamin Terry Courtney, born 3 Mar 1892, Wayne Co., IL. & Joseph Courtney, born Jan 1890. No other infoformation. Oliva married 2ndJames F. Shehorn, 28 Mar 1896, Wayne Co., IL. & they had two children:

Pearl Shehorn, born 25 Oct 1896 in Fairfield, IL & Chloe Shehorn, born Feb 1900. Chloe married Mack Dyer & they retired in AR. after 1950. No other information. Pearl Shehorn married Robert Williams in Fairfield, IL & had two children:

Helen Ruth Williams, born 16 Oct 1915, E. St. Louis, IL & married Thomas Edward Delany 23 Sep 1933 in Waterloo, IL & they had four children: Thomas Michael Delaney, born 21 Oct 1934, E. St., IL & died 4 Nov 1968, E. St. Louis, MO., Terrence Edward Elaney, born 5 Jan 1939, E. St. Louis, IL, Mary Kathleen Delaney, born 14 Sept 1949, E. St. Louis, MO. & Daniel Courtney Delaney, born 4 June 1953, E. St. Louis, IL. (Mary Kathleen “Kitty” Delaney is the one that I have been exchanging information with). Helen Ruth Williams Delaney died 18 Mar 1985 in Collinsville, IL.

The 2nd child of Robert Williams & Pearl Shehorn was Dorothy Jean Williams, born 12 Dec 1917 & died 31 Mar 1992 Collinsville, IL.

ANOTHER PUZZLE

Elize A. Hart the daughter of Jessie Jernigan Hart has also been a puzzle to me for some time & she married William Isaac Roth 20 Nov 1881 in Cape Girardeau, MO. In February of this year one of William Isaac Roth and Eliza Ann (Hart) Roth’s descendants, Carl Grover & I made contact with each other via the internet & exchanged a lot of family information. William Isaac Roth was killed in an explosion at Old Ben Mine #11 near North City, two miles northwest of Christopher on Thursday night, November 29, 1917 along with seventeen others. William Isaac Roth had been a resident of Christopher, IL about four years. before that a resident of Clarkton, MO for about 15 years living on the Bob Stakes farm near Clarkton, MO. Mr. D. D. Hart from Senath, MO traveled by train to Christopher, IL to take William Isaac Roth back to Clarkton, MO by train for burial in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery at Clarkton, Dunklin Co., MO. Eliza Ann (Hart) Roth died 5 Jan 1937 in Akron, Summit Co., OH. As far as we can determine Eliza & William Roth had 13 children. Carl & I have been able to put a little more of the Hart-Roth puzzle together.

Another Kisner Family Located

I believe it was in February or March of this year that Rebecca Kisner of Mt. Vernon, IL & I started corresponding (via- e-mail) about the Grover Cleveland Kisner family. Grover’s father was John Henry Kisner & his mother was Malinda Hart who was the a daugher of Jesse Jernigan Hart & Lucinda (Frier?) Pryor from White County, IL. 24th Annual Hart Family Reunion

The descendants and friends of the late Martin A. and Hannah I. (Melton) Hart met for their 24th annual family reunion on Sunday, June 3, 2001 at the American Legion Hall in Dexter. Richard Hart gave a report on last years reunion & Sue (Hart) Fulks gave the Treasurers Report . Jerry Hart gave the Blessing before the noon meal.

After the delicious Potluck meal, awards were presented to: Dalton Hart, youngest child, Ora Hart, oldest person, Gene & Sue Fulks, traveled the longest distance. Kim & Brenda Hart married the least length of time, M. A. Hart family, the most family members present. Afterwards we had a fun time auction, with a lot of wild bidding, & Col. Richard Hart served as the Auctioner. The reunion was enjoyed by everyone & plans are already being made for our 25th Annual Hart Reunion to be held on June 2nd, 2002 at the American Legion Hall, Dexter, MO.

Several attend Pyle family/Kingdom School Reunion in White Co., IL

The annual Pyle family reunion and the Kingdom school reunion was held June 3 at the Kingdom Church. Those attending included Wilma Brockett of Dallas, Texas; Lowell and Hildred (Pyle) Wechsler of Dixon; Margaret Pyle and Sara (Pyle) Abersold of New Albany, Ind.; Kent, Crystal, Afton and Grant Anderson, the Rev. Lyman Greer and Larry and Pat Anderson, all of Norris City; and Ray Turner, Doug, T. J., Maggi and Graci Ackerman, Jana Ackerman, Donna Smithhart, Kathryn and Wade Pyle, Mike, Donna, Tara, Kaci and Bren Anderson, Jessie Cartmill, Vernon and Pat Lodge, Pauline Hughes, Oval and Lilly Pretsch, Hazel Anderson, John, Brenda, J. W. and Luke Pyle, Walter and Betty Blazier, Hazel Howell, Kelly Pyle, the Rev. David Woodruff, Pat and Emily Woodruff and Glenda Ackerman, all of Carmi. Kelly Pyle served as the master of cermonies.

During the roll of families, Henry Pyle had 23 attending; Virginia Pyle Brocket, three; Ellisson, three; Ramond, one, Nick, two, Ellison, three; German, one; and Leonard, seven. Kelly Pyle led the group singing “The Unclouded Day”, “When We All Get To Heaven,” “In the Garden” and others with Betty Blazier accompany- ing on the piano. Lilly Pretzch brought a program from Kingdom School eighth grade graduation in 1930. It was quite a nice program, consisting of several pages of which was unusual for a small one room rural school. Betty Blazier displayed old Pyle family photos.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of Wayne Pyle, Virginia Witherspoon and Mary Paine, who passed away during the past year. Kelly Pyle led in a prayer of dismissal.

The 2002 Pyle family reunion and Kingdom School reunion will be the first Sunday in June. The same officers will preside for another year. (Note: The reason that I include the above reunion is that our great great grand mother was Mary Ann Pyle & she married William E. Emerson who were the parents of our great grandmother Martha (Emerson) Hart). Can’t figure it out, drop me a note?

He is the son of Tammy (Hart) & Ray Goodman, grandson of the late Thomas Dean Hart & Jean (Lape) Hart & the great grandson of Ora Hart of Advance, MO & the late Amos Hart. Andrew Burns Will Bring The Message Youth Rally at the Haywood Baptist Church The November 3rd, 2001 Youth Rally will be led by the Pitbsburg Baptist Association youth.. Music and skits will be provided by youth from various churches, and Andrew Burns from Ti Valley Baptist Church will bring the message. Andrew is a junior in the Haleyville highschool & the the son of Sharon (Hart) & Jason Burns of Blanco, OK & grandson of the late Vick & Norma Hart & our nephew. Uncle Ezra Hart turned 80 and he and Aunt Geneva Celebartes their 60th Wedding Anniversary

Called Uncle Ezra on August 28th the day before his 80th birthday & wished him a Happy Birthday. They were in Kelso, WA & the family was getting ready to help him celebrate his 80th birthday. While they were in Kelso it is my understanding that most of their children, grandchildren & great grandchildren & some of their friends celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary which wasn’t until the 25th of October. This is the first 60th wedding anniversary,.that has occurred in our family since Great Uncle Henry & Great Aunt Lillie Hart celebrated their 60th anniversary the 26th of July 1959. If Great Aunt Lillie had lived two more months they would have been married 61 years. As you can see that this does not happen very often. Congraulations to Uncle Ezra and Aunt Geneva.

Medical Problems up date

Talked to Uncle Ezra & Aunt Geneva Dec 1st & Aunt Geneva is not taking any Chemo. at this time & she seems to be holding her own. Glad to hear that. She told me that she had some other test made & that her blood sugar is high. Wish you the best.

Jack Jennings, husband of our cousin Ruth (Hart) Jennings had surgery on his throat the 12th of April 2001 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. He took 34 radiation treatments & finished the 21st of June. Jack has had a lot of trouble swallowing since the operation & radiation. He went back to the Doctor in November & had a good report. Jack, we hope for your continued recovery.

Aunt Ora Hart of Advance, MO seems to be doing much better at this time, than she was doing last winter & in the spring. Aunt Ora, we think about you almost every day & hope that your enjoy good health in the future.

Dick Hart, had surgery on his left elbow the 16th of October, at St. Francis Hospital, Cape Girardeau, MO He is recovering nicely.

Guess, I will have to include myself in this report. I had prostate surgery the 11th of Sept. (the day none of us will ever forget, when the attacks were made on N. Y., Washington, D. C. & the plane crash in PA). Went back to the Doctor in Oct. & it was not cancer. Very thankful for that & to this date I am doing good.

Had a letter from Gene Morris of Winchester, TN & he had visited Florence Patterson in Shelbyville, TN recently. She is confined to a wheelchair after having a couple of falls. Florence & her family along with Gene Morris & his family hosted the Hart-Morris Reunion in Shelbyville for many year. Florence, we here in Missouri wish you the best in the future. He also told me that he had talked to Marion Hart, of Jacksonville, FL, publisher of the James Hart & his descendants book. She had a fall Thanksgiving 2000 & knocked her shoulder out of place. Then she received a bad report on a mamogram & had to have surgery. Hope she is doing better.

NASHVILLE, AR, June 4, 2001 LOUIS F. GRAVES, JR.

A rosary was said for Louis F. “Swampy” Graves, Jr. at 6:30 p.m. Sunday June 3 in the Nashville Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday June 4 in St. Martin’s Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Rehkemper as celebrant. Burial was in Restland Memorial Park with Marine Corps military honors and arrangements by Nashville Funeral Home. Mr. Graves was born April 7, 1914 in Texarkana, son of Louis F. Graves Sr. and Agnes Fant Graves. He died June 1, 2001, in a Texarkana hospital . He was 87. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart and other military decorations. He also served with the Marine Corps Reserve during the Korean War. Mr. Graves was sports editor and city editor of the TEXARKANA GAZETTE before purchasing the NASHVILLE NEWS in 1950-. He retired in 1979. (Note: Some of Louis’ family is shown on page #225 of the James Hart Book & the obit. was sent to me by Gene Morris, who had visited Louis some years ago.)

Dexter, MO Nov 27, 2001 Paul E. Hoxworth of Gravel Hill, the son of the late John and Ella Hester Hoxworth, was born Feb. 19, 1915 and died Monday Nov. 19, 2001 at his home at the age of 86. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Gramp on Nov 19, 1932. She preceded him in death on Nov. 30, 1995. Mr. Hoxworth served in the United States Army from 1944-1945 as a prvate first class. He had lived and farmed in Gravel Hill Community since 1953, was a member of Operating Engineers Local 513, and had worked for Delta Asphalt, Rock Hill Asphalt and Penzel Construction, retiring in 1977. He is survived by three sons, Leo Hoxworth of Conway, Ark., Jerry Hoxworth of Marble Hill, MO. and Kenny Hoxworth of Millersville; MO.by three daughters, Shirley Barks and Jo Ann Knoll, both of Marble Hill and Judy Bryant of Carson City, Nev.; by 15 grandchildren; and by 20 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and eight sisters. Funeral services will be announced later by McCombs Funeral in Jackson, to be held at the County Line Baptist Cemetery at County Line Baptist Church.(Note: Paul Hoxworth was Christine (Hart) Mansfield’s uncle by marriage on her mother’s side of the family.) To all of the families that have lost LOVED ONES this year & the year before, we want to express our sympathy & they will be sorley missed by all.
