Buttry Family Reunion notes...............
You could not have asked for a prettier day. The sun was shinning and was not to hot. the Reunion was again at Brown Church and it was homecoming week so the flags were flying. The meal was delicious and lots of food for everyone. I eat to much causing my blood sugar to be to high this morning but since it is only once a year it was well worth it. Out of the 25 living first cousin, 12 were in attendance. The only ones that came from IL were Bonnie and Squeak. Bob's family was once again the only one with all his children and most if not all his grandchildren there. Connie's newest great grandbaby was there. He was only 3 weeks old. He was the youngest one there and I guess Lendel, age 85, was the oldest There was a lot of nice stuff auctioned off but I did not bring enough money to buy anything. Someone had bought a hand quilted quilt made by Aunt Mary and a hand painted table cloth by Aunt Bessie. Many of the others bought nice hand made crafts--we have some very talented people in our family. The 2009 Reunion is set for the Sunday after Puxico Homecoming which is always 2nd week in August so mark your calendar and make plans to attend next year. It will be at Brown Church again. Rena Buttry

Note: The Buttry's are related on GG Grandpa John Henry Hart?s daughter Lethia Ann Hart?s family.

The North Stoddard Countain
In 1908, Mona Bollinger Rendleman was born three miles west of Bell City, MO. Her mother Zella and father Lester Bollinger must have passed along good genes to this fiesty lady, because this year she turns 100. Family and friends are gathering to celebrate with the lady whose Bell City basketball team won the county championship in 1925. The Bollingers and Rendlemans have been a large part of the history of this region. A previous story in the 2006 NSC Progress (Edition) tells how the Rendlemans built the largest barn in Stoddard County back in the first part of the 20thcentury and how Rendleman mules were used to get wagons through the mud before the area roads were paved around 1949. Mona Bollinger had five siblings Melba, Cozy, Pauline, Berniece, and Max - but Pauline and Cozy did not live past childhood in a time when child mortality rates were high. Mona Bollinger met Tom Rendleman when she was teaching at Mesler School. During World War II she was ask to teach at Bell City, where her daughter Mary (Rendleman) Hart teaches today. (Mary is married to our cousin Mitchell Hart). A birthday celebration in honor of Mona's 100 years will be Saturday Sept. 13 at the Bell City School Multi-Purpose Bldg. Time: 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Family members invite all Mona's friend to join her for birthday cake and sandwiches. Mom will treasure a card, if you can't be there, said her daughter Frances. Happy 100th Mona Rendleman! We shall interview you again at 101! By Madeline DeJournett, Advance Staff Writer.

from our cousin Janet (Hart) Hale of Smithland, KY wrote me that her daughter Misty and her husband Jack along with the 2 babies Sophie and Hudson are moving to Poerto Rico this week-end. They plan to be there about 10 years. They are doing missions work there. They work mostly with college students but will also be teaching students going into the mission field and planting churches. I know Misty would also love to get your newsletters.

Note: Received the following e-mail from Betty Via of Winchester, TN.
Hi M. A.,
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you did, too. I tried to email you in August when Mother died, but my email wouldn't go through. Mom died August 26 in Sunbridge Nursing Home in Winchester. She was only two miles from my house which was so convenient for me. Mom was buried at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Bedford County where most of our family has been buried for generations. I miss her so much, but I know that she has gone to be with our precious Lord, and I'm just thankful that I had such wonderful parents. I have more sad news. Gene ] Morris died with Lymphoma on October 22 at Golden Living Nursing Home in Winchester. He was sick when Mom died, but didn't know he had a real problem. He was put in the hospital about the first of September where they found it was this aggressive cancer. He refused treatments and it got bad very quickly. He's buried at Hillcrest Memorial Garden in Shelbyville. Take care, Betty
