JAMES HART FAMILY GENEALOGY

HENRY K. HART
Son of Derrel J. & Rachel (Morris) Hart

Henry was a farmer and according to family information, he was a much sought after bachelor several years prior to his marriage. He was baptised 14 Oct 1871 by the Rev. James S Erwin Jr and joined the Mt Hermon Baptist Church. Henry was ordained a deacon Apr 1881 and had been elected church clerk in 1878. Henry K and Fannie settled in the Big Flat Creek area after they married, and although their property is not substantiated by a deed, it probably was acquired from a relative. According to Mr Lee Patterson a Hart Descendant who was born in the Mt Hermon area in 1888 remembers four Hart brothers lived there adjacent, or very close, to each other. John M Hart lived with his mother in the Derrel Hart home, Sam Hart lived in the home which was later occupied by the parents of Mr Patterson, Henry K lived on what was known as the Lockplace just below Sam Hart, and Jesse F Hart lived above him on the the Jim McNatt place. A very incomplete note, due Dec 25 1890, was found in the family Bible of Henry K, made by him to J F Ervin (brother in law) on Sep 20 1888 for a third payment of $283.33 1/3 on a tract of land. This note did not include location and/or size of the land, but does indicate that Henry K did buy property. In 1895 Henry resigned as church clerk at Mt Hermon church after serving 17 years. It is believed that he resigned only because he and his family were moving to the Rock Creek area in Franklin Co TN. There is little information on his life on Rock Creek except that his oldest son, Walter Scott age 24, and his youngest daughter Katie Frank, age 11 were baptised together in the summer of 1903 by Rev. Ben Byrom into the Primitive Baptist Church there. The home was located on Rock Creek approximately 3 1/2 miles west of Estill Sps TN. In 1907 the family moved to what the family calls the Stafford place which still stands (1974) west of Decherd TN and US Hwy 41A about 2 miles from Decherd. The Henry Hart bible contains the dates and marriages of the children.
