Catherine Rainey Hart was born around 1820 in Bedford County TN, the daughter of Henry & Nancy (Rainey) Hart. She married James Shook, the son of James & Nancy (Cross) Shook around 1847. James and Catherine are found in the 1850 census of Bedford TN in the 22nd District. They have two daughters at this time - Nancy age 2 and Hannah 4 months old. Also living with them is Benjamin Rainey age 85 born in VA. This is believed to be a brother of Capt. John Rainey, the father of Nancy Rainey & Catherine's grandfather.
Catherine Hart was a member of Mt. Hermon Church in Bedford County. The records show she became a member in 1840. In 1850 she is listed as Catherine Shook, and her husband James became a member in 1850. This is the last record found of Catherine. Shortly after 1854 James moved his family to White County IL where the family is found on the 1860 census there. James is a widower and all the children are shown being born in TN. It is assumed that Catherine died in Bedford County. She could be buried at old Mt. Hermon where her father Henry Hart is buried - but she might also be buried in the old Shook cemetery, we just dont' know.

Ezra Earl Armstrong Ezra E. Armstrong, 57, of 527 34th Ave., East Moline, (Rock Island Co IL) died unexpectedly this morning in Illini Hospital. The body was taken to the Primm-Sullivan Funeral Home.
Services are pending. Mr. Armstrong was born in Perkins, Mo., and married Martha Clark in 1942 in Cape Girardeau Mo. He was employed as a tractor operator at John Deere East Moline Works, Spreader Division, for the last 19 years.
Surviving, in addition to the widow, are two sons, Larry of East Moline, and Donald of Chicago; two daughters; a stepson, Harold Clark of East Moline; 14 grandchildren; his father, Lloyd of Cape Girardeau (MO); two brothers Frank of Cape Girardeau and Glen of East Moline, and three sisters.

Mrs. Essie Mae Gove, 82, of 20 Lancelot, Dahlonega, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at the Gold City Community Living Center in Dahlonega following an extended illness. A Stillwell, Oklahoma native and former resident of Brandon (error - should be Riverview), Florida, Mrs. Gove had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 15 years. She was the daughter of the late William C. and Nora Holland Dolby. At the age of 2 years, Essie was orphaned and was raised by her aunt, Florence Holland Van Matre Gibbs in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Mrs. Gove was a member of the Dahlonega Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Montgomery, and a son, Donald Ray Armstrong.
Survivors include husband Mr. Philip Gove, Dahlonega; daughter Christine Armstrong Walters, Rock Falls, Illinois; son Larry Armstrong, Anamosa, Iowa; stepdaughter Bonnie Lee Mae, Lakeland, Fla.; stepson John W. Gove, Lakeland, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. At her request, Mrs. Gove was cremated and a Memorial Service is scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2001, from the Dahlonega Baptist Church. The Rev. William D. Hutcheson, and the Rev. Robert D. Green will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening. The family requests that flowers be omitted and anyone that would like to make a contribution that they make it to the Dahlonega Baptist Church, Building Fund, 199 Choice Ave., Dahlonega, Georgia 30533. Services for Mrs. Shirley Armstrong Montgomery, 45, of Glendale, CA., formerly of East Moline (IL), who died Saturday in California, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Sullivan-Ester Dahl Mortuary, East Moline. The Rev. Michael Marshall, paster of Bethel Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wis., her nephew, will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates. Visitation is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Shirley Armstrong was a native of Messler, Mo. She had been a theater operator for the past seven years, retiring in 1978.
