The children were James Williamson Hart and John Henry Hart who both moved to White County IL as did their sister Agnes Hart who married William Jasper Morris, later moving to Texas Co MO. Rachel Hart who married Lewis Farris has not been found yet, and we're still looking for her descendants. Letha Hart married William Austin and moved to Texas County MO along with her sister Elizabeth Hart who became the wife of James Coats. Nancy Elizabeth Hart married George Washington Gossage and relocated to Pope Co IL as did her brother Nathan Hart with his wife Martha Rice and brother Martin Hart with his wife Mary Morris. William Hart married Sarah Pool and may have remained in Bedford County but we really sure of the whereabouts of William. Derrel J Hart and his wife Rachel Morris would be the only child of Henry and Nancy that would remain in Bedford County TN. My ancestor, Catherine Rainey Hart married James Shook who moved to White County IL and was found there in 1860 a Widower with 4 children. We think Catherine might have died in Bedford County where she could be buried in this cemetery in an unmarked grave - or she might be in the Shook Cemetery. Jesse Jernigan Hart & wife Catherine Hill moved to Bolinger Co MO.
Our ancestor Henry Hart died in Bedford County TN, 23 October 1857 and is one of the first to be buried in the Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery. After his passing, Nancy moved to Pope Co IL to be near her children. She died there 17 Oct 1871.
Henry Hart's grave is toward the edge of the cemetery, nearest the church. There is a lot of open space around him which suggest that there might be several family members buried there, and time as erased the markings. This cemetery hold the graves of about 85 people but it is sparsely marked with headstones, a result of time, vandalism and weather.

Nancy Elizabeth (Hart) Gossage
Ruby Hart 91, of Carmi died at 6:11 p.m Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 at White County Medical Center in Carmi. She was born May 6, 1910 in Enfield, the daughter of Herschel Allen and Nora Mandy (Gwaltney) Newman. She married Cecil Hart on Feb 2, 1928 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1969. Mrs. Hart was a member of the Cherry Street General Baptist Church in Carmi. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Harry Barbre of Carmi; two grandchildren and their spouses, Carol and Larry Beck and Sharon and Rex Stallings, all of Carmi; three great grandchildren, Kara Kessler and her husband, Curt, Jason and Shannon Stallings; one great-great-grandchild, Kelsi Keesler; three sister, Fay Garrett and Iva B. Sutton, both of Carmi, and Freda Foley of Mt. Vernon, IN; and one brother, Arnold Newman of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Lane and Wilma Lane and two brothers, Ernest and Virgil Newman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, the Rev. Nicholas Showalter officiating. Burial will be at White County Memorial Garden near Carmi. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home

Helen J. Burger, 87, Champaign, formerly of Danville, died at 1:18 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Mrs. Burger was born Oct. 18, 1916 in Indian Creek Township, the daughter of William and Dora (Huffaker) Hart. She married Paul A. Burger in Mt. Carmel in 1934, and he preceded her in death in 1967. Mrs. Burger moved to Danville from Carmi in 1977. She provided home health care and was employed by several nursing homes in Danville. She was a member of Evangelical Church in Danville.
Surviving are a son, Hans Burger of Danville; three granddaughters and their spouses, Eva and Jeff Hagley of Henning, Sandra and David Cushman of Carmi and Mary Cary of Urbana; seven great-grandchildren, including Brandon Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home in Hoopeston, the Rev. Janet Eggleston officiating. Burial will be at White County Memorial Garden near Carmi. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a recipient of the donor's choice.
