On Feb. 28, 1949, the long and useful life of Isaac Easterly Kesterson came to a close. Born in Lafayette County, Missouri, June 5, 1858,he was past 90 years of age. His parents were the Rev. Gross S. and Narcissa Kesterson, early pioneers of Missouri. He received his education in the schools of Lafayette County and at William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo.
His ancestry dates back to Revolutionary times, being a descendant of Patrick Henry's sister.
(This is not true he is not a descendant of Patrick Henry). During the Civil War his father moved the family to Lexington MO for safety while he served as an officer in the Union Army.
On July 16, 1885 he was married to Elizabeth Jane Ashley and to this union seven children were born. In 1909, he with his family moved to Yates Center, Kansas, purchasing the farm on which he reised until his death. He was a brother of the late J.W. Kesterson, founder of the State Exchange Bank. Being born and reared in a Christian home, his early training was a guiding influence, not only in his life but also the lives of his children. Quiet and unassuming, his devotion to his children and grandchildren will always be tenderly cherished.
His wife and son Arthur have preceded him in death as have all his brothers and sisters. Surviving children are: J.V. Kesterson, Sedalia, Mo., I.E. Kesterson, Jr. Kansas City, Mo. , Mrs Earl Davidson, Mrs. G.A. Fulhage, Mrs. Cecil Tannahill and Mrs. Walter Krueger, Yates Center, Kansas. Services in his memory were held Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock at the Baptist CHurch with Rev. Marvin Megill, pastor, in charge. Casket bearers were his four grandsons; J.V. Kesterson, Jefferson City, Mo., Arthur Kesterson, Kansas City, Mo. Fowler Kesterson and Nelson Davidson, Yates Center and two of his sons in law, Walter Krueger and Cecil Tannehill. Interment was in the Yates Center Cemetery.

Living an entire life of 90 years on the same farm on which he was born and still able to enjoy the fruits of his labor, is a record to be proud of. Thisis the life of G. A. "Gus" Fulhage who lives theree miles east of Yates Center. He was born there on October 3, 1879. In 1870, Mr. and Mrs. William Fulhage arrived in Woodson County from Germany, coming from the same locality that their friends the Stockebrands, Laubers and Toedmans had a few years previous.
William Fulhage homesteaded a part of the present G.A. Fulhage farm along Owl Creek, building along the north side of the creek. With two other neighbors, Fulhage drove a covered wagon to Independence, Kans., to get the deeds to their farms. In later years the farmstead was built on higher ground along what is now US 54. Gus Fulhage was married to Miss Julia Kesterson, May 14, 1913. They have lived over 56 years on the same farm. They have two daughters, Mildred, a music consultant for the elementary schools in Kansas CIty KS, and Dorothy who lives at home and is Medical Record Librarian at the Neosho Memorial Hospital at Chanute. He also has one living sister, Mrs. Will Reep of Kansas City.
Mr. Fulhage enjoys good health at the age of 90 years. Due to an operation on one eye a few years ago, he gave up driving the car. However he still reads a great deal and really enjoys his daily newspaper. He is a great lover of flowers as his flower garden often indicates as one drives by the farmstead. His love for his home and farm has always shown in the way he has kept it up and he can still drive his little Ford tractor all over the farm although he no longer farms, but has it rented out to a relative.
This is not the first interview we have had with Mr. Fulhage as we consulted him many times about matters concerning the Owl Creek and Durand localities. Hismemory of by-gone days is remarkable. It is always a great pleasure to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Gus Fulhage
