Obituary:
Mary Gray Musser, was born on a farm four miles west of where Odessa now stands, Aug. 16, 1853 and all her useful life was spent in this community from which she departed for a better land on June 16, 1932 after a long illness. At the early age of 14 years she made her profession of faith and united with the Concord Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Odessa where she was active in her share of the work of the church until failing health prevented. She was a teacher in the Sunday School and a worker in the Woman's Missionary Society. She was an active member of the Coronet Rebekah Lodge. On Dec. 29 1886 she was united in marriage to A.P. Gray and to this union one son was born. On Christmas Eve, 1891, the father passed away. Nov. 11, 1901, she was married to Michael Musser who died nine years ago. A brave, cheerful spirit was hers and she has given much in service to others in her nearly four score years. Surviving her are her son, Horace Gray of Chicago, and his two daughters Virginia and Dorothy: two brothers. I E Kesterson of Yates Center, Kansas and T.D. Kesterson of Odessa nd one sister, Mrs. Marion Brown of Odessa, nephews and nieces and friends innumerable. The funeral services were held Saturday at the Baptist Church, conducted by her former pastor, Rev. E.W. Chewning assisted by her pastor, Rev. G.N. Magruder. Her pall bearers were her former Sunday School pupils, J.C. Tobias, Irving Husman, HughMorgan, Herbert and Ben Johnson and Dave McClure. Beautiful flowers which she loved so dearly surrounded her as she was laid to rest in Odessa Cemetery. She rests from her labors and her works do follow her.
