Hello to everyone!
Here it is Spring again - Can't believe how fast time is whizzing by. I didn't think there would be a lot of news for this issue but have managed to come up with a few things..

The 1900 Lawrence Co AR Census had a Lizzie b Jun 1874 MO married to Frank HAMMOND b Mar 1875 TN. They had 3 children at the time. Living with them was Lissie Kesterson b Jan 1889 AR listed as "Sister in Law" obvious sister to his wife Lizzie. Delores Clifford wrote to me many moons ago, asking what we knew of these sisters. Delores is a descendant of Frank Hammonds second wife, Susan Patton. I think I've finally figured out who they were. I'm pretty sure they were both daughters of Henry Kesterson the s/o Daniel & Susannah (Owens) Kesterson of Greene Co TN. I found Daniel's son Richard Kesterson in Miller MO in 1880 but wasn't sure he was the son of Daniel because he said he was born in MO, parents in GA. Then in 1910-1920 he says he was born in TN which is correct. When I found Henry in Carter MO it became clear that at least 2 of Daniel's children might have moved west. Daniel also had 2 daughters but I have no idea where they went. Since there is no record of Daniel and/or Susan's death in TN, I'm looking for them in MO as well. There was a Daniel born in 1816 GA on the 1880 Iron MO census with a much younger wife named Mary, a 10 yr old son named William, and a 1 yr old daughter named Cordelia. I suspect that this is the same Daniel. Perhaps the first wife Susan died and he remarried. I'm done some research in Wayne Co MO which borders on Carter and Iron County. The deeper I drove into those mountains - the more I was convinced I'd never get out again! If I was running away from something - this is where I would go. I went into the Wayne Co Courthouse and spent at least 2 hours there and never once saw another person on the premises.

A Brute:
A man who will allow a team or a horse to stand out in the cold for many hours is entitled to very little consideration by decent people and if he gets his just dues should be given the same treatment he accords his team. Yesterday, in spite of the cold, a team was driven into town and left standing on a north street without blankets from nine in the morning until four in the afternoon. The driver was finally taken in tow by Marshal Kesterson and hiked out of town with a warning that if the stunt was repeated he would be given the limit in police court.

Donna Swanner is a new cousin from the John & Malinda Kesterson Family, Howard Co AR, through their son Samuel who married Sarah Propps. What makes Donna a little bit "special" is that she is a Gospel Singer & Songwriter and I am now the proud owner of one of her tapes. If you like Gospel Music then I think you should get in touch with Donna as soon as possible and buy one of her tapes. Country Gospel is one of my very favorites and Donna brings it home in the nicest way.

An update on one of the WV/OH families. For years we only had information on William Henry Kesterson 1865-1931 who married Martha Mae (Hill).. Bill "Kesty" Kesterson is a descendant of this line.. New information now comes from Bills wife Julia Kesterson who sent for William Henry's death certificate and we now have William Henry's parents. they were John W(William) Kesterson b 1842 in IL (or more likely OH), and Lucy Ann SANDERS who were married 21 April 1864 in Meigs Co OH. I've seen this marriage information out there somewhere - and some have her name as SANDERSON. According to the DC it was Sanders. Along with this information is the 1870 Census which places John, Lucy in Meigs Co OH with 2 sons William age 6 and John age 3. We believe that John is John Lewis Kesterson 1867-1917 Meigs Co OH - married to Margaret Ellen Conkle. The only other descendant to this line, to date, is Jan Griffith [email protected]. The questions remaining at this point are: Who are the parents of John William Kesterson? My guess is that they have to be connected to the Willis Kesterson/Catherine Gregory line so if any of you WV/VA researcher have any ideas - please let us all know..

And another bit of news from Angela Meadows who found this interesting piece of information conerning Hazzard Kesterson.

This proves beyond any doubt that Mary (Kesterson) Lemay/Lamay was the daughter of Hazzard. So I'll take this moment to recap what we have on Hazzard - possibly 9 of the 10 children found.
