DANIEL C. KESTERSON was born about 1816 in Greene Co TN, the son of William & Mary (Bailey) Kesterson.
He married Susan Owens on the 1st of May 1842 in Greene TN. They lived in Greene County until sometime after 1860.
I next found them on the 1870 census of Iron Co MO living with their son Henry J. Kesterson. By this time Daniel
and Susan were 50 & 60 years of age. In 1860 the census in TN listed their children as
Henry born in 1843 - James born in 1846 - Sarah (Jane) born in 1848 and Richard born in 1850. The 1860 census in TN
did not list James but did list Henry, Jane and Richard.
Daniel apparently married again - in 1880 he's listed with a wife named Mary age 49.
This census also gives two more children - William age 10 1870 and Cordelia age 1. In my notes I have another daughter
named Adaline born about 1851 in TN. I'm not at all sure of the additional children.
HOMER V. HODGE, 78, St. Elizabeth, died Thursday at the Osage Beach
Health Care Center. He was born Sept. 8, 1915, in St. Elizabeth, a son
of James and Katie Kesterson Hodge. A retired farmer, he had lived in
St. Elizabeth most of his life. Survivors include one brother, James Hodge, St. Elizabeth; three
sisters, Rosa Bock and Lorene Ripka, both of Meta, and Mabel Wheat, St.
Elizabeth. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stevinson-Rekus Funeral Home,
Ieria. Bro. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in the Dake
Cemetery near Iberia. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

ROSA HELEN (HODGE), 70, Meta, died Saturday at Capital Region Medical
Center-Southwest. She was born Feb. 19, 19127, in Miller County, a
daughter of James O. and Katie Bell (Kesterson) Hodge. She was married
Oct. 26, 1946, in Jefferson City, to Herbert Harvey Bock, who died Feb.
24, 1995. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church,
Meta. Survivors include: two sons, Edward Bock and Jim Bock, both of Meta;
one daughter, Mary Jacobs, Duncan, Okla.; one brother, James Hodge, St.
Elizabeth; two sisters, Lorene Ripka, Meta, and Mabel Wheat, St.
Elizabeth; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. The Rev. John Schutty will officiate. Burial will be in St. Cecilia
Cemetery.

LOLA DELL (KESTERSON) BIRDSONG - Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Zion Christian
Church near Tuscumbia for Lola Dell Birdsong, 85, of 134 W. Seventh St.,
Eldon, who died Thursday, Jan. 27, 1977 at Charles E. Still Hospital in
Jefferson City. She was born Nov. 4, 1891, to Richard and Mary Burks Kesterson. Aug.
15, 1909, she was married at Tuscumbia to Everett J. Birdsong, who died
Oct. 27, 1960. Mrs. Birdsong lived in Miller County all of her life. She was a member
of the Mt. Zion Church but also attended the Ninth Street Christian
Church in Eldon. Surviving her are four sons, Henry Birdsong, Tuscumbia, and Willie
Birdsong, Lloyd Birdsong and Walter Birdsong, all of Eldon; and 22
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were two sons, Perry
Birdsong in 1964 and Marion Birdsong in 1975, and a daughter, Jewell
Whittle, in 1973. The Rev. Gene Edwards officiated at the services. Burial was in the Mt.
Zion Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

HENRY J. BIRDSONG, 79, of Lebanon died Monday, March 23, 1992, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1912, at Tuscumbia to Everett and Lola Kesterson Birdsong. On Oct. 27, 1943, he was married in Tuscumbia to Hattie M. Hawken, who died Feb. 15, 1989. Mr. Birdsong was a farmer and construction worker. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime resident of Miller County and was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church. Surviving him are a son, James Birdsong of Lebanon; two grandsons; a great-grandson; and two brothers, Lloyd Birdsong and Wayne Birdsong, both of Eldon. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

LLOYD V. BIRDSONG, 67, Eldon, died Tuesday at Still Regional Medical
Center (Jefferson City). He was born June 8, 1926, in Tuscumbia, a son
of Everett and Lola Kesterson Birdsong. He was married Dec. 25, 1958,
in Crocker to Beulah Whittle, who died July 21, 1988. He had been employed with Miller County Eldon Special Road District
for 10 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church and Eldon
V.F.W. Post No. 2442. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and
served three years after the war in the U.S. Army. He is survived by one brother, Walter Birdsong, Eldon. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home,
Eldon. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Mt.
Zion Cemetery, Tuscumbia. Military graveside honors will be conducted
by Eldon V.F.W. Post No. 2442. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

WALTER WAYNE BIRDSONG, 70, Eldon, died Tuesday at Lake of the Ozarks
General Hospital, Osage Beach. He was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Tuscumbia,
a son of Everett and Lola Kesterson Birdsong. He was married Sept 23,
1952, to Doris Thompson, who survives at the home. An Army veteran of World War II, he was employed as a union carpenter and was a member of Carpenters Union 945 in Jefferson City. He was a
member of First Baptist Church, Eldon. Other survivors include: two sons, Richard Birdsong, Lake Ozark, and
Terry Birdsong, Culleoka, Tenn.; two daughters, Laura Estabrooks,
Columbia, and Debbie Parker, Lake Ozark; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Phillips funeral Home, Eldon.
The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial with military honors will
be in Mount Zion Cemetery
