Beulah Lunsford, (Lotts)Smith, 88, of HCR32, Box 45,Staunton, died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 1999 in the University of Virginia Hospital. She was born October 5, 1910 in Augusta County, a daughter of George R. and Daisy Dell (Kesterson) Lotts. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Smith was employed by the Woodrow Wilson RehabilitationCenter. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and was active in her circle and Presbyterian Women, a member of Arbor Hill Home Demonstration Club, a past member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of King'sDaughters' Hospital, and also a member of the Augusta County Garden Club. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and had an interest in walking and participated in other health activities.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William L. Lunsford on December 8, 1957, her second husband, Fred McLaughlin and her third husband, Floyd Smith. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, William L., Jr. and Kitty Lunsford of Roanoke; three sisters, Mrs. Cornelia L. Clemmer and Earle George Rolen, both of Staunton and Mrs. Lillian Hanger of Middlebrook; and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted 2 p.m.Friday, April 23, 1999, in Augusta Memorial Park by the Rev. Roy W.Howard and the Rev. Dr. Woodward D. Morriss, Jr. Active pallbearers will be Charles Beard, Carl White, David Rhodes, Gary Long, Mike Carden and David Hanger. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. this evening in the Henry Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Mary Ann (Potter) Kesterson, widow of Kirby K. Kesterson, of 14 East Gay Street, died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 8, 2004) at her residence. She was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Augusta County, a daughter of John D. and Geneva May Potter. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Kesterson was employed as a seamstress at J. C. Penney.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ruben L., William M., and Herman D. Potter; and four sisters, Martha Lewis, Nema P. Myers, Sarah Lucas Wiseman, and Irene Gilmer. Family members include two sons, Robin of Staunton and Kenneth Kesterson of Mount Sidney; a daughter, Roxie Estes of Crimora; two brothers, David and Clarence Potter, both of Staunton; three sisters, Myrtle Kubis of Oswego, N.Y., Jolly Stickley of Staunton, and Caroline Turner of Verona.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private. There will be no public visitation.

Lewis E Kesterson, 71, of 10842 N. Havenhurst Lane died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 1995, while vacationing in Burnett County, Wis. Born Sept. 3, 1923, in Virginia to Bruce and Elizabeth Hess Kesterson, he married Elda Burattini on March 9, 1946, in Bari, Italy. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Susanna Kesterson of Clarion, Iowa; one brother, Paul of Covington, Va.; one sister, Katherine Allen of Fayetteville, N.C. One son, Thomas, and one infant brother preceded him in death.

A World War II veteran, he was a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force.He was chief corporate pilot for Caterpillar Inc. for many years, retiring in 1981. He also was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Proctor Hospital. Private family services will be at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Emma Jean Kesterson, his sister-in-law, will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation will be accorded.
