James K. Davenport, 69, a resident of the Belfast community, died Friday afternoon at the Matthews General hospital in Burlington after an illness of several months.

Born June 24, 1884 in Solitude, North Carolina, he was married to Miss Bessie Lapham (sic) in Creston, North Carolina June 10, 1904. Mr. and Mrs. Davenport moved to Belfast in 1912. He has been a member of the Burlington Free Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Lloyd of Burlington, Bill of Stanwood and Charles Davenport of Cambridge, Wisconsin; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Hatley of East Stanwood, Mrs. Ruby Houser, Blanchard, Mrs. Lola Northcutt, Seattle, and Mrs. Ethyl Higgen (sic) of Mount Vernon; 18 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Rose Banning of route 1, Burlington, a niece, Mrs. Don Hansen of Mount Vernon and three nephews, James and Tom Banning of Belfast and Ralph Davenport of Seattle. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Walter Hulbush Funeral home; burial will follow in the Burlington cemetery.

My Note: I don't know what connection James Kesterson Davenport has to the Kesterson family - but since this is his middle name I have to believe there would some link.
