I have swung my small boat "hard about" to begin the final tack.
In the far distance I see heaven's gate where Jesus waves me home.
The sails are smartly trimmed with "tell tales" snapping full astern.
The hulls healed-over nicely snug along its wetted lines.

Her plunging bow parts the waves with power and easy grace.
I feel the wind and the stinging spray fall full upon my face.
"Oh God", It feels so good yet to be alive.

Sounds of strain upon the rigging and water past the hull,
Creates a symphony of music that sailors only know.
The voyage has been blessed, filled with
a family's undying love and dearest friends along the way.

The "ports of call" were exotic, from youth to shades of gray.
Life's hard lessons were learned and cherished and memories recalled each day.

This story is not a sad one, for I am finally coming home,
Christ's saving grace consumed my soul with indescribable joy and peace.
My voyage it has ended well, but you boats still out on the sea,
Log each new day with faith in Christ
and He will guide you to the heavens home most faithfully.
