Alma I (Wharton) Kesterson, 82, of Kesterson Farms, Old St. Marys Pike, Parkersburg, died May 27, 2001, at Charleston Area Medical Center following a long illness. She was born June 10, 1918, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Nathaniel J. and Hattie Boone Wharton. She was a member of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Parkersburg Chapter 14, O.E.S. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law: Frances and Howard Sharp, Jane and Gary Richards, Carole and Bill Morrison, all of Parkersburg, Susan and Tom Buttermore of Little Hocking, Janet and Lynn McCauley of Ripley, Julia and John Hoffman of DuBois, Pa.; two sons and daughter in law, Frank and Carolyn Kesterson and Mike Kesterson, all of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Lea Ann and Mark Dick of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mrs. Marc Engle (Anita McCauley), Belews Creek, N.C., Stephanie McCauley of Ripley, Katie and Krista Hoffman of DuBois, Pa., Bill and Jennifer Morrison, Melanie Richards and Megan Kesterson, all of Parkersburg, Lindsey Kesterson of Pennsboro; two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Bradley Dick of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Justine Frazier of Vienna.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harry L. Kesterson in 1984; and two brothers, Olin Wharton and Berkley Wharton, who died in infancy. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, 7th Street, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Lindsay A. Thorp officiating. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation today from 2-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles C. Kesterson, 93, of Parkersburg passed away Nov. 14, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born April 5, 1912, in Barnesville, Ohio, a son of the late John G. and Maggie Johnson Kesterson. He was retired from Barlite Asphalt in Marietta. He is survived by three sons, Michael Kesterson, Charles Henry Kesterson and Paul Eugene Kesterson, all of Parkersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lula G. Thomas Kesterson; two sons; and several brothers and sisters. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 400 Green St., Parkersburg.
Rae Kesterson Core, 81, of St. Marys, died June 15 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 16, 1914, at Lubeck, Wood County, the daughter of the late John and Lutellia Roop Kesterson. She had attended Salem College, and while living in Atlanta, GA, had been a designer for Charles Willis Fine Jewelry and on the board of directors of the Salvation Army.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, N. Blair Core; one son, F. Blair "Skip" Core of St. Marys; one sister, Johna Goudy of Lubeck; one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law, Helen and Guy Core of Seguin, TX.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Senta Goudy and Lucille Bridges. Services will be 2pm Sunday at the Ruttencutter Funeral Home in St. Marys. Burial in the IOOF Cemetery in St. Marys.

Bernard O. Kesterson, Age 70, of Williamsville, a retired Trico Products Corp. inspector, died unexpectedly Saturday (April 15, 2000) in Williamsville. Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., he attended high school in Miami and attended Augusta Military Academy and the University of Miami, where he played tight end on the football team on a full athletic scholarship. He came to Buffalo in 1954 and worked at Trico for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Amherst Senior Center. He was a hunter and enjoyed raising dogs. Before he moved from Clarence to Williamsville in 1968, he bred bloodhounds and Labrador retrievers. In retirement, he made fine ceramics and fashioned various household items.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Elaine M. Meussling; a daughter, Donann E. of Williamsville; two sons, James Lee of Lockport and Robert Wayne of Cheektowaga; and a granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in SS. Peter & Paul Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville, after prayers at 8:45 in Roberts & Dengler Funeral Home, 8630 Transit Road, East Amherst. Burial will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Williamsville

Donald N Kesterson,78, of Parkersburg, died April 24, 2002, at his home. He was born on Jan. 24, 1924, in Parkersburg and was the son of the late Russell and Ella Courtney Kesterson. He was a member of the St. Paulįs United Methodist Church and the Crusaders Sunday School class for 49 years. He was retired from Monongahela Power Company and Pleasants County Power Plant. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 15, the Moose Club, Nemesis Shrine, Knightįs Templer, and achieved his 32nd Degree in the Scottish Rites. He had recently received the KCCH degree in the Masons. Before graduating from Parkersburg High School, he had been a member of the Parkersburg Big Red Band for six years and had the honor of playing in the Sugar Bowl. With the outbreak of World War II, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly, honorably serving his country as a member of the 8th Airborne 95th Bomb Group. He spent most of his service time stationed in England.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mercedes Kathryn Gilbreath Kesterson; his sister, Lois I. Kesterson; a son, Donald C. Kesterson; daughter-in-law, Jayne F. Kesterson; and a granddaughter, Amber Kesterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle Roy L. Smith; and aunt Minnie I. Smith. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paulįs United Methodist Church, the Rev. Paul M. Stadleman officiating. Don donated his body to West Virginia University for medical research, so that others might live. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paulįs United Methodist Church, Childrenįs Shriners Hospital in Lexington, Ky. or to the Parkersburg Humane Society.
