Born: JAMES HODGKINSON (2) was born about 1781 in Preston Lancashire England, as yet no proven parents found.

Marriage: James met and married a young girl in about 1813 by the name of JANE ABBOTT.

Wife Born: Jane was born about 1791. The surname Abbott was noted on the death certificate of their son James. Jane's parents have not been located to date.

UK 1841 Census: The Hodgkinson's were living at Charlotte Street Preston in 1841. James aged 60yrs, occupation Cotton Weaver, Jane 50yrs, and some family members and extended family  no relationship is noted. John Hodgkinson aged 19yrs weaver, George Hodgkinson 20yrs Plasterer, Jane 15yrs, James 15yrs weaver, John Hodgkinson aged (unable to read) plasterer, Paul Hodgkinson 6yrs, Jane Hodgkinson 4yrs.

2nd Marriage of Jane Abbott : Jane married Henry Sharrock Dec 18th 1806 Preston Lancershire.

Preston Lancashire - Home of Hodgkinson Family

Preston was the hometown of our Hodgkinson ancestors, it is located at the very heart of the north west of England in the County of Lancashire, and it is steeped in history dating back to 1080. The town is located on the north bank of the river Ribble surrounded by breathtaking countryside such as the Ribble Valley and the rolling Lancashire hills to the east. The flat countryside of the Fylde  to the west and northwest out to the coast and magnificent Lake District in the county of Cumbria. To the south and southwest of the river Ribble is the moss lands with many market gardens.

Hodgkinson marriage and baptisms took place here.

James & Jane had at least seven children all registered in the town of Preston Parish registers:
