Families of Washington County and Bristol Virginia, 1776-1996
Arrrived
in Washington County as early as 1804. He was a farmer, with his farms
being located between Abingdon and Greendale, at the head of Heral's
Creek. He served in the Militia of Washington County VA as a member of
the 70th and 105th Regiments. He appears on Muster Rolls for six
different years for the period of 1804-1828.
Basil
was
appointed the guardian of his half brother Walter, when his father
died. The appt is date 3/19 (year not shown), but it is filed in the
records of 1809. (per Harold Warren) Have a photo copy of
documents
All that remains of the Basil Warren
farm is the
one acre plot which was deeded as the family cemetary. There also
remains standing just below the cemetary, one small log building which
has been used as a barn and a carriage house. The water source, a
spring just the the entrance to the old farm still flows freely and is
being used as a water souce for at least two families living
nearby. The property was sold again, and there are now houses
around the cemetery.

VA deaths 1886-1896 shows B Warren dead of old age on 12/26/1855 son of
George
Anc.com census index, shows Bazzel, and other various
spellings from 1810 through 1850.
That
land where the cemetary is on was bought by Basil Warren from James
Herrell (Harrold)..James Herrells' grandfather also named James settled
the land in 1769. Info from "G. Lee

In
the 1830 census at Ancestry he is listed with 1 male under 10, 2 males

1 male 40-50 and 2 females 2-10, 2 females 10-15, and 1

the 1850 Miracode census at Ancestry.com he and Margaret are
listed as both being 66. He listed as a farmer. Nancy 32;
Sarah
38; James 28; and Walter 22 are also listed in the household.
