contributed by my cousin Harold Warren

From the Families of Washington County and Bristol Virginia, 1776-1996
Arrrived in Washington County as early as 1804. He was a farmer, with his farms being located between Abingdon and Greendale, at the head of Heral's Creek. He served in the Militia of Washington County VA as a member of the 70th and 105th Regiments. He appears on Muster Rolls for six different years for the period of 1804-1828.

Basil was appointed the guardian of his half brother Walter, when his father died. The appt is date 3/19 (year not shown), but it is filed in the records of 1809. (per Harold Warren) Have a photo copy of documents

All that remains of the Basil Warren farm is the one acre plot which was deeded as the family cemetary. There also remains standing just below the cemetary, one small log building which has been used as a barn and a carriage house. The water source, a spring just the the entrance to the old farm still flows freely and is being used as a water souce for at least two families living nearby. The property was sold again, and there are now houses around the cemetery.
