The House family is descended from Robert House, born about 1741 and his wife Mary Pitt.  Beyond the fact that Robert was a wheelwright and buried in Denham, Bucks. on 3 October 1813, little else is known about them.  The Buckinghamshire baptism records appear to give several wives as the mothers of Robert's children, but in view of the birth dates, it seems reasonable to suppose that these were errors and that there was only one House family in Denham at that time.  (Thanks to Irene Allen for helping in finding the marriage of Robert House and Mary Pitt.)  Their son Thomas was also a wheelwright who died at the early age of thirty eight before his youngest daughter was born.  Help from Mrs. Josephine Elkins of Iver is gratefully acknowledged.
