BURROWS CEMETERY
This cemetery is located on FM 1428 just inside the Conner Community in Madison
County, turn west on Boyd Rd also called County Road 119. The cemetery is
about 1/2 mile down this dirt road on the south side and back into a pasture
about 1/2 mile to the right. The property is closed off by a cattle gate
with a chain and lock on it, but just wrapped around. There is a phone number
for the key posted at the gate to prevent vandalism.
This cemetery is referred
to as Burrows, Conners, Jenkins, or Barrett cemetery. The sign on the gate
says "Old Madison County Cemetery". I went to the oldest funeral home in
Madisonville and asked them what the cemetery was called, he said it was
Burrows cemetery in all their funeral records, but would probably depend
on what generation you asked as to what it was called.
Following this alphabetical transcription, I have included a transcription
of the order these people are buried, whom is next to whom and where the
unmarked graves are located in the cemetery along with my notes in [ ].
There
are alot of graves marked by pieces of wood stuck in the ground that
have petrified over the years with no writing on them.
I transcribed this
cemetery on January 2, 2001.
