Aberdeen, Scotland.  He came to America in 1638.  On 2 July 1638, John Burnett was granted
a commission to trade in Virginia by King Charles I of England.  John Burnett of Aberdeen became the
Sole Merchant of Scotland, responsible for supplying goods to the colonies from England and
Scotland.   He died on 6 Feb 1686 in Rappahannock County, Virginia
at age 75.  He was buried at the Burnett Plantation Cemetery in
Virginia.

John married Lucretia Johnson, daughter of Andrew Johnston and Janet Matheson,
in 1657 in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia.  Lucretia was born abt 1629.  She was christened on
22 Mar 1629 at St. Nicholas Parish in Aberdeen, Scotland.  She died in Oct
1709 in Piscataway Creek, Essex County, Virginia at age 80.

John married Amy Gatewood, daughter of John Gatewood and Amy McGraw, 
 about 1699 in Essex County, Virginia.  Amy was born about 1680 in South Farnham Parrish, Essex County,
Virginia on Hoskin's Creek.  She died after 4 Apr 1749
in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.

26. James Burnett Sr. was born in 1731 in South Farnham Parish, Essex County,
Virginia.  James served in the Revolutionary War in the North Carolina Line.  His daughter,
Rebecca Burnett Davis, applied for pension or land for his service in the war on 27 Sep 1853. 
This claim was denied.  According to court records for Spartanburg County, South Carolina, James was indicted
for Larceny in 1795 and on 20th of July 1797 he was found guilty and sentenced to 5 lashes
on his bare back at the common whipping post and court costs.  He died about
15 Jan 1828 in Spartanburg District, South Carolina about age 97.

James married Elizabeth ________ on 8 Apr 1777.  Elizabeth was born from about
1755 to 1760 in South Farnham Parish, Essex County, Virginia.  She died 
5 Sep 1842 in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia about age 86.

Georgia.  The cause of his death was Tuberculosis.

Benjamin married Mary Fanny Magdalene Charles, daughter of William H. Charles
and Celia Maude Bowman, on 5 Dec 1909 in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia.  Mary was born on 28 Oct 1893 in Ellijay,
Gilmer County, Georgia.  She died on 23 May 1986 in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia at age 92.

and Myrtle Heaton, on 26 Dec 1932 in Gilmer County, Georgia.  Elizabeth was born on 21 Jun 1914 in Blue Ridge,
Fannin County, Georgia.  She died on 18 Nov 1988 in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia at age 74.

Lela Adeline Gibson, on 9 Aug 1952 in Benton, Polk County, Tennessee.  Jack
was born on 6 Sep 1932 in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia.  He died on 24 May 2003
 in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia at age 70.  He was buried  at Buckhorn Cemetery in Gilmer County,
Georgia.  The cause of his death was Head Trauma.  He fell from the roof of his home and
remained in a coma three weeks before his death.
