History of Clinton County, Michigan (1980), p. 237 318. CORRINGTON E.G. PETERSON FAMILY Corrington E.G. Peterson was born in Morrow County, Ohio on December 9. 1855. He was the youngest son of [Westley] Peterson and Sally [Mc]Donough Peterson. At the age of fourteen he moved with his parents to Essex Township, Clinton County. On October 2, 1878 he was united in marriage to Amelia Alice Bancroft the daughter of Palmer and Amanda Bancroft. To this union were born six children. In 1893 the Petersons left Essex Township, and moved to a small acreage on South Lansing Street in St. Johns, directly across the street from the old fairgrounds. Mr. Peterson took employment with George J. Monroe in the windmill and well repair business. After working several years with Mr. Monroe, Mr. Peterson went into business for himself and continued this business until his health failed. Mr. Peterson was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and Rebekahs to which he was greatly devoted. Amelia Peterson died on February 10, 1903 at the age of forty-five years. One child, Eva May, had [preceded] her mother in death, having died in infancy. The Peterson's oldest daughter, Sylvia, married Guy Boomer. Sylvia contracted typhoid. She died on March 20, 1903 leaving no children. Nellie Peterson married Edmund Cressman, and they resided in Olive Township their entire lives. They had one son, Almond B. Cressman. Roy Peterson served in World War I and married Mabel Burke. One daughter, Royal Peterson Kemp was born to this union. Another son, Dixie E. Peterson served in World War I. He married Lizzie Haven; and they had one son, Dixie Peterson Junior. Millie Peterson married Carl Loomis. One son was born to this union, Stanley Loomis, who is residing in St. Johns at present. On January 7, 1914, Corrington Peterson married Mrs. Nellie Bensinger; and with her he spent his remaining years. In 1921 he became ill; and Mr. Peterson passed away at his home on December 18, 1922.
