IRA WILSON BAXTER,

Death:  Aug. 5, 1908, USA

Ira Wilson Baxter was the son of John Hunnicutt Baxter and Nancy Delk Baxter.


His siblings were:Asenath Baxter (m.G.W.Parker) Eliza Baxter (m.Allen Barfield Flowers),Nancy Baxter(m.David Hiers), Luraney Baxter (m.William Bailey
Darsey),Stephen Godfrey Baxter (m.Isabell Casswell),John Mitchell Baxter, Ann Baxter (m.Nicholas Brown) & Reding Baxter (m.Julia Gainey).
He married first to Margaret Underwood. His second wife was Anna Fennell and they were parents of Elizabeth Baxter born in 1873.

Cemetery notes and/or description:
Location: US Hwy 17 N, go 13.4 miles, turn right on Pine Harbor Rd. Go 0.1 mi. and turn left on Young Man's Rd. Go 3 miles and turn right on Belle Hammock Rd. The old Ira Wilson Baxter Estate was in the area of Belle's Landing on the White Chimney River. After the Baxters' deaths the new land owner, reportedly, leveled the cemetery.* The exact location today is unknown.

History: John H. Baxter (1795-1873) was born in Colleton Co., S.C. His father, Stephen, who was born about 1752 in N.C. was the son of old Israel Baxter (1690-1769) of Craven Co., N.C. John H. moved to Tattnall Co., GA and then in 1834 to Liberty Co., GA. He had 9 children by his wife, Nancy Delk. Ira Wilson Baxter (1839-1908) was the sixth child. He married: 1). Margaret Underwood (ended in divorce), 2). "Clennie" Caswell and 3). Ann (Fennell?*)**
