William Henry Collins OAM known to all his mates as "Bill" is widely acclaimed as one of Australia's greatest ever race callers.
Fulfilling his childhood dream, Bill graduated from race calling at small Victorian country racecourses to a record 34 Melbourne Cups during a career that spanned almost 50 years.
Bill easily earned the nickname of "The Accurate One" for his uncanny ability to correctly call even the closest of races. His talent had him calling important races around Australia and also around the world, calling races in countries like South Africa, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, United States and United Kingdom.
Bill called his last race on Easter Saturday of 1987, he was later awarded an OAM (Order of Australia Medal) for his services to the racing industry.
