Beaty Family History

The David Beaty Family

Descendants of David Beaty & Malinda Sadler

Growing up in rural Mississippi in the 1940's & 50's and having lost both my father and grandfather at a very young age, I was the only male in my family that carried the Beaty name.  I often wondered if I had other relatives who shared my name, and if so, where were they located.  About two or three years before my father's death, he demolished an old smokehouse that had belonged to my grandfather and grandmother.  In that smokehouse was an old trunk that contained some letters.  My father intended to throw the letters away, but for some unknown reason I kept them.  I was no more than seven or eight years old at the time and had no idea what valuable information the letters contained.  When I was a teenager I found the letters where I had put them years earlier and started reading them.  I soon realized that they were written by my great, great grandfather, Thomas Newton Beaty, while serving in the Confederate Army.  It was those letters that started me on the long journey that I am still on today.  It was those letters that led to most of the information contained in these pages.  It was those letters that led me to other members of my beloved family.

The information contained in these pages is by no means complete.  It is my desire that as other members of the family read this, they will provide additional information that can be added.  Comments and suggestions are not only welcome but will be greatly appreciated.  I invite you to visit the links below.  If you would like to send me an email, please click on the pen and inkwell at the bottom of the page.  Thank you for visiting with our family.    Robert (Lamar) Beaty, Sr.
