Services for Bernard Smith Held Nov. 25

Bernard Ross Smith, was the son of Fred and Laona Smith. He was born in Reamsville, Kans., on November 23, 1898. He passed away at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital the morning of November 22, 1962, at the age of sixty-three years, eleven months and 29 days.

Bernard was united in marriage to Reeta Schrawyer in Mouzula, Mont., May 20, 1933. They have lived most of their married life in and around Franklin.

Bernard joined the First Congregational Church of Franklin on July 1, 1956. His one great interest in the church was the adult class. He taught and actively attended this class as his health would permit. He also was a friendly neighbor and spent his declining years with his flowers and his pets. Even though his health was declining this last couple of years he was cheerful and easy to care for.

He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Reeta; one son, Ardith Smith of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Norma Beach of Bristol, Tenn., and Mrs. ValJean Smith Minton of Glendora, Calif.; and one step-son Arlie Schrawyer of Riverton; two sisters, Mrs. Edna McNealy of Pueblo, Colo., and Zelpha Haas of Smith Center, Kans.; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Through the dark and stormy night

Faith beholds a feeble light

Up the blackness streaking;

Knowing God�s own time is best,

In Patient hope I rest

For the full day-breaking.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 25, at Hutchins Funeral Home, 2 p.m. The Rev. Gary Neptune officiated.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Ralph Robinson and Mrs. Harry Kennedy, accompanied by Mrs. Floyd Halfleigh.

Pallbearers were Ralph Robinson, John Flathers, Harve Eshelman, Glenn Weber, Merle Beach, and Chris Copley.

Internment was in Greenwood Cemetery.

We wish to extend our appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all our many friends, realtives and neighbors who have given of their time and services at the time of our deep sorrow. We wish to thank the Woman�s Fellowship of the Congregational Church, also the doctors, nurses and hospital staff for their work and kindness. A special thank you to Rev. Gary Neptune for his comforting words.
