Smith County Pioneer Obituary

Memorial Services for Clifford Andrew Haas, 53, will be held today (Thursday) at 2 pm from Simmons chapel in Smith Center and interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Gilbert Peters will conduct the funeral services. The American Legion Quartet, LaVal Ayres, Jake Knight, Lee Smith and Lawrence Kern, are the vocalists for the service. Pallbearers are Kelly Ormsbee, Harry Lattin, Delbert Sims, Sam Grothaus, Eldon Stein, and Charles Cooper.


Obituary

Clifford A. Haas, son of Frederick and Mary Haas, was born September 10, 1909 at Bloomington, Nebraska and departed this life at his home northwest of Smith Center, Kansas on Sunday morning, February 24, 1963, at the age of 53 years, 5 months and 14 days. On December 24, 1929, he was united in marriage to Zelpha Smith of Franklin, Nebraska.

Eleven children came to bless the home. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Zelpha, of the home; also two daughters, Juneitta and Vera Dean of the home. Other children include Wanitta McGreevey, and Emmett of Topeka, KS; Darlene Minkler, and Melvin of Hasting, NE; Frederick Haas, and Thadene of Smith Center, KS; Norman Dean Haas, and Shirley of Bremerton, WA; Norma Jean Dannenberg, and Raymond of Salt Lake City, UT; Raymond Haas and Patricia of Bremerton, WA; Alberta Sweat and Morris of Manhattan, KS; and Helen Valliere and Jack of Topeka, KS; also twenty grandchildren whom he dearly loved; two sisters and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, his father, mother, two brothers, and three grandchildren. He was a loving father and husband.
