"Mr.Beecher was one of the oldest and best known citizens of the area, having spent 30 or more years of his life in the immediate vicinity. He was born in the state of Vermont and we believe resided there in early life; but as many as 30 years ago we knew of his residing at Rhodesport; whence he soon removed to the village of Havana and from there to Beaver Dams where with steady, honorable industry as a farmer he thereafter procured for himself and family a comfortable living... At the time of his death and for at least a year before, he held the position of Crier of the Court for this County."
