James Unwin BURT (or BURTH)

James Unwin BURT, son of Francis BURT, was born in London, England about 1838. James arrived in New South Wales, Australia, before 1860 when he would have been less than 26 years old. James was a confectioner.

James married Mary Ann SUTTON, daughter of Henry SUTTON and Ann LIDDY, in 1864 in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia.

James and Mary Ann had 10 children in Sydney & Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia - Elizabeth BURT, William BURT, Henry Thomas BURT, Selina Jane BURT, Emma May BURT, Francis BURT, Emmeline BURT, Alice BURT, Mildred BURT, Alfred George BURT.

Hugh Henry LORD the surname & Edith Ida STRANGE the surname

Hugh Henry LORD, son of George Henry LORD and Sarah Anne WHITE, was born in1885 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. Hugh was a chair machinist.

Hugh Henry married Edith Ida STRANGE in 1910 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England.

Edith Ida STRANGE, daughter of Jonah STRANGE & Jane KEEN, was born in 1887 West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England. Edith was a chair matter.

Hugh & Edith immigrated to New SouthWales, Australia circa 1920 on board the "Orsova" with their 2 children. The family settled in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and had another child.

Henry SUTTON & Ann LIDDY (or LIDAY or LIDIARD or LYDIARD or LIDDIARD or LYDDIARD or LYDELL or LYDDIA )

Henry SUTTON, son of Thomas SUTTON and Sarah, was born circa 1805 in London, England. Henry was tried at the Old Bailey, London, England in 1828 and sentenced to Life. He arrived in New South Wales, Australia, on board the convict ship "Albion" (3) in 1828. Henry was a bootmaker.

Henry married Ann LIDDY in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia in 1833.

Ann LIDDY was born circa 1815 in Australia or County Clare, Ireland depending on which certificate you read. Little is known, by me at least, of Anns origins as she was admitted to the Female Orphan School in Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia in the 1820's.

Henry & Ann had 11 children - William SUTTON, Alfred SUTTON, Emma SUTTON, Henry Darlow SUTTON, Mary Ann SUTTON, Selina SUTTON, Thomas SUTTON, Matilda Jane SUTTON, John SUTTON, Alfred David SUTTON, Pearce Nathaniel SUTTON.

Denis DUANE or DUAN or DEVAN & Julia CONNELL

Denis DUANE, son of Dennis DUANE and Catherine, born circa 1831 in Doneraile, Cork, Ireland arrived in New South Wales, Australia in 1854 on board the "Caroline" as did his future wife Julia CONNELL. Both Denis & Julia were Assisted Immigrants. Denis listed his occupation as a baker.

Denis and Julia raised a family in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. They had at least one child, Catherine DUANE and possibly four other children in Denis Joseph DUAN, William DUAN, John DUAN, & Julia A DUAN. But I'm yet to confirm this as I'm yet to purchase the death certificate of either Julia or Denis.

Margaret RANKEN (or RANKIN)

Margaret RANKEN, daughter of "Robert RANKIN of Scotland" (yep, rather a lot of those) and possibly Margaret WELCH, was born circa 1830 in Castletown, Isle of Man. Margaret arrived in New South Australia aged 22 years as an Assisted Immigrant in 1852 on board the "John Gray".

Margaret RANKIN apparently married George IRELAND, son of George IRELAND and Elizabeth McGUFFIE in 1853 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia but Im yet to find any record of this marriage.

George and Margaret had 9 children in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Margaret IRELAND, Emily IRELAND, Agnes IRELAND, Alexander IRELAND, Edward IRELAND, Dorothy IRELAND, George IRELAND, Alfred Burgess IRELAND, Arthur IRELAND, Winifred IRELAND. There is a reference to another daughter Pearl IRELAND but I'm yet to confirm this.

George IRELAND the surname Snr & Elizabeth McGUFFIE (or McGUFFOG)

George IRELAND was born about 1796 Kelton, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland.

George IRELAND married Elizabeth McGUFFIE in 1816 in Whithorn, Wigtown, Scotland.

Elizabeth McGUFFIE was born about 1795 on a dairy farm called Calafornia (now called California Farm) near Whithorn, Wigtown, Scotland.

George & Elizabeth had 10 children and immigrate to New South Wales, Australia some time before 1843. As neither George nor Elizabeths deaths were recorded it is difficult to determine exactly how many children they had. The children were all born in Bridge of Dee, Balmaghie, Kirkcudbright, Scotland - Agnes IRELAND, Janet IRELAND (died in infancy), Alexander Gibson IRELAND, John IRELAND (died in infancy), John IRELAND, George IRELAND, Thomas IRELAND, Helen IRELAND, Robert IRELAND, William IRELAND.

The family, including the deceased infants, immigrated to Australia before 1845. Elizabeth McGUFFIEs sister Ann PEARSON nee McGUFFIE and George IRELAND Snrs sister Jane SKENE nee IRELAND also immigrated to Australia in the 1840's.

John CHURCHILL (or CHURCH) and Jane BRADISH (BRANDISH)

John Bradish CHURCHILL, son of John CHURCHILL and Jane BRADISH, was born circa 1860 in Tipperary, Ireland. This family immigrated to Australia some time in the 1860's.

John Bradish CHURCHILL apparently married Catherine DUANE, daughter of Denis DUANE and Julia CONNELL, but Im yet to find record of this marriage. Apparently they married at Reverand Prestons residence in Devonshire St, Sydney in 1889. There was a Reverand Preston at the Wesleyan church on Devonshire St at this time but there is no record of Reverand Preston marrying John CHURCH & Kate DUANE.

I have 5 or 6 likely suspects for children for John & Catherine. Well, I have one definite one at least, my ancestor - Daisy Ethel CHURCHILL. The likely siblings are John CHURCHILL, William CHURCHILL, Henry CHURCHILL, Florence CHURCHILL and Denis CHURCHILL.
