Charles Thomas GAHAN & Jeanette Mary ANDERSON

Charles Thomas GAHAN, son of Thomas GAHAN and Elizabeth Richardson PURVER, born Portsea (now Portsmouth) Southhampton (now Hampshire), England, in 1834. Charles immigrated to somewhere in Australia other than News South Wales before 1858. On the 1841 UK census the only GAHAN in Portsea is a Michael GAHAN from Wexford, Ireland. ie Charles parents either died or moved away from Portsea before 1841, as did his sister Elizabeth Mary GAHAN. Charles arrived in Australia before he was 22 years old. He was a carpenter and a labourer. Their is a smudgy reference to Barbados on the baptism of Elizabeth Mary GAHAN so perhaps that's where they went?

Charles married Jeanette Mary ANDERSON in 1864 in Brundah near Young, New South Wales, Australia.

Jeanette (or Janet) Mary ANDERSON, daughter of William ANDERSON & Elizabeth MATHEWSON, was born circa 1837 Dunfermline, Kingdom of Fife, Scotland. Jeanette arrived in Australia sometime before 1864.

They had 6 children, most of them born in Grenfell, NSW, Australia - Elizabeth Richardson GAHAN, Isabella GAHAN, Janet Mary GAHAN, Isabella GAHAN, Charles GAHAN, William George GAHAN.

Catherine and George raised a family in Guildford, Victoria, Australia - George Israel HALL Jnr, Charles HALL, Mary Susan HALL, James HALL, Thomas HALL, Matthew Martin HALL, Eliza Jane HALL, William Henry HALL, Elizabeth HALL.

After the death of George Israel HALL Snr, Catherine married Charles Henry WINTER and moved to Western Australia.

Thomas ROWLING, born in Cambridgeshire, England married Eliza CHAPMAN, also born Cambridgeshire, England and immigrated to Australia on board the "Isle of Skye" in 1853 with their first child, Ann ROWLING. Apparently when the year that they arrived Eliza gave birth to my ancestor Naomi ROWLING in Port Henry, Geelong, Victoria, Australia.
