Williams Family Notes and Information.

The following are separate families of Williams that came to Belleville/Ellisburg and are all inter-related. Having said this there are a few odd Williams that are not related to this old new england line. A few are more recent imigrants..

Family Two

Roger Williams born Wales and Founded the city of Providence RI.

He fathered three sons. Providence, Daniel and Joseph. The following is Joseph's line.

Joseph Born Dec 16, 1645 was the father of Joseph Jr. born Novemer 10, 1673 and a Son named Thomas.

Joseph had a son Jeremiah who died in 1789. Jeremiah Jr. was born July 6, 1736 married his cousin Bethiah Williams daughter of Thomas above.

Jerimiah Jr. and Bethiah had a son named Othniel Sr., born 1761 married to Dorcas Field from Providence RI. They were early pioneer settlers to Chester, Windham count, Vermont. Dorcas Field was a decendant of Roger Wiliams' most trusted friend William Field.

Orthniel and Dorcas Williams had son Alexander Williams born Chester Vermont 1794. He moved to Ellisburg in 1818. In 1819 he went back to Vermont and married Rhoda Reed from Rockingham, Vermont.

This brings us down to Fredrick Williams of Ellisburg New York...a student of Union Academy Belleville and eventually a prime benefactor of the Academy.

Family Three

(if you have any idea of who Joshua William's father is send me an email!)

The Williams line that has me stuck:

Joshua Loomis Williams [assuming the spelling is loomis as on his daughter's death certificate it spells it Lumas and Loomis is a Belleville family that married into the Williams' clan]

I have no idea who Joshua's parents are:

Location Jefferson County Journal
Anna M. Williams, wife of Calvin Montgomery, died Oct. 10, at her home in Odessa, Ont. She was born Aug. 31,1847, at Mannsville and spent her early life here. In 1866 she married Calvin Montgomery. In 1880 they moved to Odessa, Ont. She is survived by her husband and one sister, Lydia Kenyon of Mannsville and a large circle of friends to mourn her death. She was a great sufferer for many months, but received every attention from a devoted husband and many friends. What is our loss is her pain, for she was ready and glad to go to her home over there.
