DAPHNE FRANCISCA HARLESS daughter of MARTIN ANDREW HARLESS and LULA RAY MINTON was born 24 January 1917 in Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia, and died 04 February 2009 in Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia. She married ROY HOWARD GRUBB 22 August 1932 in Blountville, Sullivan County, Tennessee, son of JOHN GRUBB and LUCY DUNN. He was born 30 August 1915 in Alvarado, Washington County, Virginia, and died 19 April 1991 in Hamilton County, Ohio.

92 passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Born January 24, 1917 in Abingdon, Va. to Lula A. (Minton) Harless and Martin Harless. Preceded in death by her husband Roy Howard Grubb, Sr. and her seven sisters and only brother. When Daphne was eleven years old her mother passed away at the young age of 45. Her mother was a fine christian lady who worked for a wealthy family that owned the Hassinger Sawmill in Abingdon, Va. Prior to her death she and the Hassingers were able to arrange for Daphne and two of her sisters to be accepted at Foster Falls Christian Boarding School for Girls at the expense of the Hassingers. Daphne will be remembered by many for a lifetime labor of love, hospitality, dedication, faithfulness, Sunday-School teaching/knowledge of the Bible. Due to health in general (and vision/hearing) she gave up driving in her eighties and had to give up her personal one-on-one Nursing Home Ministry. She dearly loved the nursing homes and sharing God�s love with the shut-ins. Daphne also leaves a Godly heritage for her 6 children/spouses: Roy Howard Grubb, Jr./Ollie, George Carson Grubb/ Catherine, Phyliss B. (Grubb) Watson/Bob, Betty V. Grubb, Mary Jane (Grubb) Howard/Clifford and Myrtle E. (Grubb) Hacker/Joseph. Loving grandmother of 21 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Visitation (TODAY) Friday Feb. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Frederick Funeral Home, 2553 Banning Rd. where funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
