GLOBAL BIRNEY FAMILY TREE
To this end I am trying to list and identify as many Birneys as I can find, with the help of others doing similar research in their respective locations. My reasoning is that by having as much history in one place as possible, there is a better chance that some one may come across a link that would enable things to travel back maybe one more generation. If you have something you would like to see on this site, please let me know.
** It should be noted that I am not the one who did all the research for what you see here. Most of the information was contributed by many fellow Birneys who have spent years researching their own Birney lines. I can not express enough thanks for the generousity of so many people who have made this site as large and informative as it is.
This section includes a short history of each Birney family represented on this site. Many are also listed here if I only know a few individuals in the family.

I have accuumulated a large list of Birney names, some with dates and places, which I can not connect with any known families. This list is now posted in the Cali-Birth Index, and the
Stray-List section. There were too many for one page. I am asking for any help you can give me.

A new addition to the site (starting September, 2006), are biographical sketches of Birneys and Birney descendents and relations. So far there is one page given to John Birney and Mary Campbell descendents. bio_john_mary.htm There is still much to be added from old Ohio histories concerning this family, after which I will move on to other areas and note the families and files here.
A SURNAME database for you to see if you are listed in my information on your family. There are currently about 12,600 BIRNEY descendents represented in this list. I am still working on adding links to the surname pages to take you to the corresponding family tree page. This will take some time to accomplish.
A place to post QUERIES about your anscesters
I have sorted through the Social Security Death List for the U.S.A. There are many Birneys listed here which I am not sure of their identity. These two pages are all the "strays" I have come across, who don't appear to belong to a known family. Please check the Stray-List and the Cali-Birth list to see if you are familiar with any of these individuals.
