Welcome  to my Egyptian and Medieval Collection.

I have been doing genealogy since I was in my teens, and later began collecting art from the Egyptian and Medieval periods. It is amazing to be interested in Egyptian art, and then discover I am descended from Ramses I, Pharaoh  of Egypt. Born about 1350 BC, Ramses aka Rameses, married Sit.re, the granddaughter of the Egyptian pharaoh Amenhotep III and his wife Tiy-nefertari, a descendant of Thutmoses the first, pharaoh of Egypt from about 1503 BC to 1493 BC. I am descended from Ramses I through his son Seti, and his son Ramses II, pharaoh of Egypt, ancestor of John of Gaunt Plantagenet, Duke of Lancaster. It's in the book about my ancestor John of Gaunt: Royalty for Commoners, where the name is spelled Rameses.

My Heritage Family Tree

Cousin William D. Potter

My ancestor Ramses II was a red-headed Libyan. Interesting! This family of pharaohs went from being captain of the horse guards to pharaohs when the male line of Amenhotep III ceased, and was continued through daughters, after King Tut's widow married Ay, and he in turn appointed Ramses as his successor.
