Colonial Life in America

*****************************************************************

Our Headley family descends from William Smith, brother of Captain John Smith of Pocahontas fame. My father's Smith family descends from Richard Pace and Isabel Smythe of Jamestown. Robert was a hero who alerted the colony of an attack and saved many lives, but died himself not too long after, so he was probably wounded himself.

Most of my ancestors came West through Missouri in the very early 1800's where the Lewis and Clark Expedition began a journey across mountains and rivers to the Pacific Ocean. Some moved on to Iowa, Kansas, and points West, like William and Betsy Smith, my mother's ancestor, while others stayed a while, like Hans Smith, my father's ancestor, totally different branches of my family. I'm sure they would all be excited to see such a marvel as this air rifle which defended the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
